Not unless those high lifts are non tapered hence rendering the complex and highly refined variable valve lift utterly useless  :P :P

So exactly what is the point of that variable shit again? ;)

It uses no less gasoline, makes no more power, weighs no less and costs way more than a lopey nasty bitchy badass LSX - :P

It does broaden the torque range of an engine, but you are quite correct in the sweet ass sound of a lopey dirty whore of an LSX

yup, by that time.
And it seems that we're not getting the golf V, the normal version because it's too fucking expensive for the mexican market. Only the golf gti will be available
right now we have 2 bora/jetta generations, IV and V. The IV is labeled as jetta, and the V as bora.

I'm guessing he'll jump the Suchiate River and buy a golf :P

and I believe it could be done in brazil, but I don't really know. the VW assembly plant here in mexico was having some changes, so it could not be a surprise if the gti is mexican

actually im buying one when it comes out... hopefully

the 06' DSG's versions in the usa dont have Launch control, and the S mode with the manual mode, resets each 10 second so eventually the car will shift for you. euro spec cars are the opposite... (all us spec cars are german)

the 07' model will have the LC and the more aggresive DSG program found in the german GTI, confirmed by VWoA

i somehow thought you guys where getting the US spec GTI so for sure the 07 would have the LC and the dsg program. We get the mexican jetta and bora, and the salesman told me that if i didnt liked the brazil GTI i could get the mexican one.

something tells me that brazil spec GTI's wont have any of this features, no LC no dsg prog and with leather and the big bolsters (euro spec seats) and will have crappy seats.

we get euro spec cars, we don't have many restrictions, so... as antonio says most probably mexico will produce a GTI, now that i remember I think it was mentioned somewhere.

somewhat euro specs and american specs

I would say that the mexican gti will have the normal dsg without any "I want to crash" program, nor the sportier seats, nor the LC

this in the first years of the gti.
I would recommend you to wait a couple of years until VW feels a little pressure coming from other manufacturers and spec up the gti

it has happened, and will do it again.
The last generation golf gti, IV, came with the 2 l engine, which is crap for a car that big and heavy. Then they started selling the 1.8 l with 150 hp, then cranked it up to 180.

As far as I know it doesnt have any launch control; furthermore as far as i know only the ferrari 360 stradale or 430 do have the feature equipped

A different thing is that the golf does have the DSC traction control feature which its purpose is quite different from the launch control actually

it has a proper launch control...

http://members.optushome.com.au/coon_ssn/launch%20with%20count.avi

this guy managed 6 flat from zero to 60, id say the correct time is something like 6.5 since the safety measure on the speedo (100 is really 95ish)

I would say that the mexican gti will have the normal dsg without any "I want to crash" program, nor the sportier seats, nor the LC

actually the mexican GLI has the "sportier seats" (recaro made)

and i bought the new car & driver, with the gli featured. they mentioned the car they tested had the LC, although they are unreliable with the info really.

the LC equiped cars have the agressive program too

Nice avatar

Also I didn't know Mexico got better spec'd cars than in US, I wonder if they got the BMW M3 CSL :?:

not from authorized dealers but from importers, the regular M3 is Euro spec sold at regular dealers

It's kinda funny, and it's kinda sad... but a few more years from now, and this engine won't even be all that special anymore. Not as cutting edge (if one may call it) as it was before we rolled over to the year 2000.

Still, a very pretty engine. I think it looks great. I just don't have any use for it :P

I still don't think the Golf GTI has 'launch control' - in that vid... the guy could have been pressing the brake with the left foot, since it doesn't have clutch :? :hmm:

still dont believe me? go to your video collection and search BMI's volume 26 "Racing Bonanza" hot hatches battle, they have like a 5 minute special talking about the DSG's launch control and how it kills the megane sport, opel VRX, and how could it match with the type R, i undestand ppl dont believe this tsuchiya itself was amazed

Not only that, an LS2 with a stroker crank and a 150 shot of NAWS will be cheaper and stronger and lighter and more reliable ;)

That's a sweet $16K coffee table ;)

It's not that I believe you or not - it¡s just that, as we have the same German-spec version of the Golf... I've never heard about the launch control before  :P

well this car never got the attention it needed :D

you should go and take a test drive and tell me what you think! that would be great! :D
