Do you remember the vid from LA to NY on 4mins. I was thining of doing the same thing from Norway to Austria next week. I was wondering if any of you have ever done anythink like it. Taking lots pics in interval and then playing them as a video at 20-30fps. We have a lot of different cameras, and so far it seems as we are going to try and mount a webcam on the dashboard and have a laptop in the glovebox.
Do you know anything easier? Cheaper? Any home mini-dv cams or mini-dvd cams which have this feature?

you can just film the whole thing on miniDV, (by a couple of tapes)

I think the problem with a cam would be that it would run out of power after an hour or two. You need to make sure it can be fed with a constant supply of power to keep it running without interruption.

well, asuming your trip is 5 hours... thats roughly 18,000 images... and with a still camera... such as mine, on the low-quality setting (s step) it will take 3.6+ gigs of CF card... not to mention that you would need to manually insert each frame of the movie that would be roughy 12.5 minutes long...
i think some video cameras have built in time-delay/time-stop work into them
you can achieve the same effect by just speeding up regular filmed events.
The key is a video camera mount.

the trip is about 1600km long. And takes about 16 hours to drive. So filming the whole thing and buing tapes is pretty much out of the question 8)
Well, do you think it will be much funnier/easier to work with some 57'600 pics? :D

The 1 second time elaps feature is commonly found in prosumer or better vidcams.
