Due to the large amount of new members who are mostly here to leech the videos and who have been putting an extra strain on the server I have decided to allow only members of the multi-media access group to download and upload videos in the video vault until further notice.

This action was necessary to continue the smooth running performance of JW and to keep it an enjoyable experience for the JW community.

Leechers are a reality and everybody here at JW already "leeched" files from other sites... but on a site like ours, where you can click on "post comment" (for free) and type a simple "thanks", we can make the difference between ppl only interested in new vids and others wanting to be part of something..
That can seem a bit to much, but when because of ppl just hammering the server like crazy for hours we can't access our "home", it's not so nice...

i just found this site three days ago and was extremely excited with all the top gear and fifth gear downloads because i live in the US and can't get the show here. all american car magazines and shows suck. top gear is amazing because they actually understand the meaning of wit, and they really test the limit of the cars they drive. shows here cant drive worth shit. ive been downloading top gear off various places for a long time but it has been quite a search. and usually they are old episodes. now since i came at a inconvenient time for the site, i can't get anything? i cant even upload videos? im sorry if i haven't helped the site, but we were all newbies once, and rome wasn't built in a day. now i don't even know what to do because i can't upload vids (and the ones i have are just about all old top gear ones anyway). i guess im just screwed...

I'm from Malaysia as well. But unfortunately, the BBC World on our satellite TV doesn't show the celebrity section, the cool board, and some parts of the show, only 30mins long. Well, I admit that I'm a leecher. So I doubt I'm going to download anymore videos in the future, since I'm an admin for a pretty active forum.

Think of it this way....

Your in a car and someone's kid just so happens to be playing with the video camera in teh back of their car. Something happens and you lose control and slam into a concrete pylon of an overpass. You die or are very seriously hurt. The kid takes the video he shot of your last few moments on this earth and posts it up on kazza for everyone to download. A few weeks later its on a couple hundred websites and a coule thousand peoples computers.

The best vid of a car being destroyed was the one where they made a fully RC beater and jumped it off some huge hills and stuff. It was awesome. No-one got hurt, and the car was destroyed! Pretty much any purposeful destruction of vehicles is usually fun to watch :D. That reminds me, anyone have any videos of a Demolition Derby!?! If not maybe next year I'll take my video camera and try to make some nice compilations from demo derbies, i think that would be kewl.

This is what the newbies dont understand.

We did NOT go around posting links to our videos to other sites. Members who did not have admin permission took it upon themsevles to make a reputation by going around posting video links so people who where not apart of the community could spend the bandwidth that was intended for the sole use of community members.

Thus we made the videos only open to those who where registered. SO then a couple thousand folks registered just to download. Some acutally posted but that was maybe 3%. The rest just happy downloaded EVERY video that was offered. And only after we limited access did they all of a sudden start to bitch.

Since when did we say come join our site and download all our videos? Never. U continue to act like this and I can personaly guarintee you will never endup on a download list.

Here we're trying to create the best possible community.. I know every forum has a good community, but here we're trying to do more.. providing also picture hosting and videos... but the main aim is still the friendship we share here and not the GB downloaded by members...

IMO what we have here is very good as it is.. of course that doesn't mean we have to close registration (as we could do) and stop growing... nothing against growing up, but we want to be still a good community with strong bonds between members .. close relationship and so on.. by my side there is quite a lot backchannel communication.. to help others, to receive help or just to chat... and I'm sure there is the same between other members.. that's why we're completely pissed off at comments like that last one, completely pointless and dumb.. not giving a fuck about a community..
If we only wanted to provide vids, why to open a forum and try to keep it as lively as possible?

which is why i suggest from now on any questions about downloads or video access be deleted/locked. this kind of arguement comes up all the damn time and it's annoying for people who know the deal. make a sticky thread stating the rules of access and downloads and such, to be read, no questions asked. that way whenever an asshole pops up show him the way to the rules thread because it's far too much hassle trying to argue in every thread why people should stop complaining and demanding and such.

Well sadly my last serious relationship cost me my Ferrari 355GTS. Not much fun being knocked down to the bottom of the ladder when I had just spent the last ten years climbing it. I am in no hurry to make the same mistake again when I am starting to make some good progress on the current ladder.

i saw some of the same things in my dad's second, and third wife, as well as an ex-girlfriend... not saying my dad has a lot; but so much went to supporting them, and thier children. i think he had enough of that after 3 poor matchmaking gambles.

RSI injury to my left hand...didnt think I would be using a computer for quite a while...if ever again...and that would mean no more JW.

Luckily I made a full recovery without even needing surgery.

glad you made a full recovery, jabba. ive known more then a few people who have had various tendon injuries to thier hands, some opted for surgery, and one opted for a different approach, specifically massaging the tendons.

People are too quick to rush into having surgery for everything these days it would seem.
