Hi, Im going to present the most beautiful Renault Maxi 5 Turbo (this was the cars official name instead of Renault 5 Maxi Turbo as its known) that has ever existed from the 20 units that they were produced in order to be homologated as a grB (19 of them were used as a grB unit, and just one of them as a everyday use car) ; in addition, since it was a renault 5 turbo improvement, it wasnt necessary to built the 200 Renault Maxi 5 Turbos in order to be homologated

Here we go the most beautiful Maxi 5 Turbo ever

http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/3126/delacasa2ee.th.jpg (http://img371.imageshack.us/my.php?image=delacasa2ee.jpg)

In comparison, Im going to show the other relevant Renault Maxi 5 Turbo that have been driven

Lets start with the most popular Renault Maxi 5 turbo driver: Jean Ragnotti

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3120/19858nb.th.jpg (http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=19858nb.jpg)

Followed by the other relevant drivers such as François Chatriot

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5499/chatriot28xl.th.jpg (http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=chatriot28xl.jpg)

Naturally, a couple of young promises when driving the maxi 5 turbo, and afterwords two of the bests world rallying drivers in the history of rallying

Naturally, Didier Auriol

http://img496.imageshack.us/img496/5104/auriol4ul.th.jpg (http://img496.imageshack.us/my.php?image=auriol4ul.jpg)

and of course, Carlos Sainz

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6167/sainz3bt.th.jpg (http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sainz3bt.jpg)

In addition, this is the unique Renault Maxi 5 Turbo that it has never competed in rallying

However, I havent been able to find other Renault Maxi 5 turbo relevant drivers such as De Meyer or Giovanni Rossi

In addition, Im going to present another pic

Such as the Eric Fanguairie´s Maxi Turbo....this guy bought one of the Carlos Sainz´s car, and made it up into this

[img]http://img489.imageshack.us/img489/9529/renault5maxiexcarlossainz036na.th.jpg (http://img489.imageshack.us/my.php?image=renault5maxiexcarlossainz036na.jpg)

The other Sainz´s unit was transformed into a 4x4 version in order to compete on the Spanish gravel championship; sadly, I havent been able to find any pics of the car; in addition, Ragnotti used to drive another 4x4 Maxi 5 Turbo in the end of the eightees in the Andros Trophy held in France on snow; unfortunately I havent been any to find any pics of this car either

Anyway hope to enjoy the pics, and see if your point of view is similar to mine

Ive no clue about the edit button....anyway...the car´s driver and owner is the one who has the car´s badge....he was a spanish rallying in second division in 1984 in a Renault 5 Tour de Corse (of course, an ex-works one), afterwords he has been driving the spanish climbhill championship firstly in a merc 190 2.3-16 grA (before the M3 Sport Evolution was launched), and afterwords he drove the M3; later on (in 1996)he drove a one year old ex-Massimo Biasion Ford Escort RS Cosworth grA,....; nowadays, as far as I know, he owns the Renault Maxi 5 Turbo, a Ferrari 288 GTO(Im not sure 100% if he owns the ferrari), an Ibiza Kit Car Evo II, and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI grA; if any information, asking Francesc Gutierrez must be more than enough since they used to compete each other in the Spanish climbhill championship some years ago. In addition, the guy owns some commercial centers in Andorra as far as I know; Moreover, many years ago, a friend of mine and me decided to approach Gerard de La Casa, we asked some question, asked for an autographs, and no problem at all; he seemed to be quite a nice guy; if it wasnt enough information, he used to be one of the most spectacular drivers ever on the M3 in the spanish hillclimb championship since his purpose was just one...have great fun; furthermore, in order to have a more efficient car and win the spanish championship, he used to buy the earlier commented ex-Biasion car and he won among in the touring car class(this year his driving style was totally different since his aim was to win the spanish championship and therefore his driving style was very neat, but efficient; however, one year after, he decided to purchase back the same M3, and offer some spectacle because driving the escort in a nice way was such a boring day

In addition, even after getting bored in a full M3 Sport evolution II grA (360 grA bhp and 1100 kg of weight) he decided to try a new challenge, drive the spanish climbhill championship in a C3 prototype (much more radical than a CN Osella PA 20 prototype) called Osella PA9; however, it seems that he didnt use to enjoy the car or get its 110%, and he went back to the touring cars and the rallying speciality; however, although he has had the chance to drive such a radical car (a 2.0 litre full specs kit car rallying car) or another supposedly relevant car (a grA mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI) it seems that the driving experience didnt have any enjoynment for him and decided to retire from the competition, although he has taken part in some slalom or a climbhill in the renault 5

Great pics thanks and a very interest compilation read. Do you have more pics about the guy from Andorra? Oh! the Ragnotti unit with the Philips reglia was very similar than the one at the WS meet at Bilbao driven by `Jeanot´ himself.

BTW....here we go another missing Renault Maxi 5 Turbo pic; its from Chamot, a frenchman who is compiting the french hillclimb championship

Ive no clue about the cars origin, but I guess that it must be a former unit sponsored by phillips

To sum up, lets see how many Renault Maxi 5 Turbo we are able to find 10 years after

- The couple of renault Maxi 5 Turbos that compete in the classic rallying championship (one of them with the Team Diac Colours, and the other with the phillips sponsorship and the british identification, actually, the car pic shown by dani in the renault 5 turbo topic)

- The other phillips sponsored car that renault uses for its own events and driven Jeannot

- The earlier mentioned most beautiful maxi 5 turbo

- The Maxi 5 turbo that competes in the french hillclimb championship

- The Maxi 5 turbo driven by Auriol which he currently owns (in fact he owns almost every single car that he has already driven such as the maxi turbo, the sierra cosworth, an integrale...)

- The ex-Carlos Sainz unit that is owned by the frenchman called Eric Fanguairie

- It seems that the Maxi 5 Turbo which has never taken part in rallying is still owned by the collectionist from Northerm West of Spain

- Its rumoured that the 4x4 unit and ex-Carlos Sainz is in Japan

After the Gilles27 request about the Gerard de la Casa´s information (the guy who owns the white Maxi 5 Turbo, here we go the little M3 video that Ive already had from quite a long time ago; however, the videos quality could be better, and the video takes quite a short time

I wish I had more videos about this guy driving the M3, the Maxi Turbo, the Tour de Corse or the merc since his driving style consists on sliding the car as much as he can and get some enjoynment from it; for instance if you ask to some people who is his or her most impressive driver in a rear wheel drive, people will say Gerard de la Casa; for instance, I think that his driving level is quite similar to Brizuela (in fact, both drivers have won the Spanish rallying cup in the renault 5 turbo in 1985 and 1984 respectively)

Anyway, I hope to get some good impression from the video

On the other hand, I normally dont take pics and store them on the computer, so Im obligued to use the google as anyone else
