Me got my self an XBOX need some advise

I went out yesterday and bought my self an XBOX. Not that I'm going to play it much but I got it because I needed an extra DVD player. I thought to my self I'd rather pay 100$ more and get my self something more then a DVD player. Of course now I found out that I need that DVD kit to play DVD's which is a bitch.

I have Sega GT2002 and it's one of the most boring games in the world.

What do you guys recomend? For sure PGR, but is there anything else thats good?

I'm looking for good racers, and some good sports games.

Guys did anyone try to connect a PC steering wheel to the XBOX? I can make an adapter but I wonder if it will work.

Get Madden 2004, PGR2, Tiger Woods Golf, Halo of course, and anything else your heat desires. almost every single game on Xbox is great.

PGR2, is pretty amazing, but keep in mind it is a little more like Sega GT 2002, not more than like PGR, but a little more simmy. It is still very PGR, but there is more difficulty in controlling your car. Braking and shifting require more timing and skill.

I think you can do the adapter thing, and I want to too, I believe you need a chip, which I don't have, but you have one on the way.

Ok Halo is the greatest game ever made so dont even try to pass that by. Splinter cell is another and the list goes on. As for the DVD kit just yestday i installed Xbox media center which lets me play AVI, VCD all region DVD MP3 pictures and most other formast like DIvX. i also have a few haves on teh hard disk. The down side of this is that i cant use this xbox on live. So i have another for the purpose.

As for the steering wheel I have two things I'm going to try. First I'll make a simple Xbox controller port to female USB adapter and see if I can connect the wheel directly, and if that does not work I'll have to open one controller and see if I can wire the steering wheel to the regular controler. All I need to know is how the analog sticks work on the controler. I'm praying that they are actually analog so I can actually wire the pedal and steering wire directly to the controller.

I just read around a bit and it looks like this Xbox is quite great. So many mods for it....people installing Linux on it.......

Guys I have more questions.

I'm going all over the net reading general info, and it looks like modding an xbox is a pain in the ass.

It looks as if running a modded Xbox is as hard as having illegal directTV in canada.

The guy who is going to install the chip for me is the guy who owns the computer store that I work at. Although he was installing these chips for a while now I still dont know shit about them.

I know that the chip he is going to install has a switch on it(so I can play live) and that the chip is upgratable(flashble). What does this all mean??????

Can someone explain what happens when I have a mod chip installed? All I want to do is play DVDs with the original kit from Xbox and play burned(my backups of coruse) games.

Get a chip in it to deal with the software stuff and drop in a 120gb disc. no need for burned cd`s hook it upto your computer and just throw what you want into the disc.

You mean I can hook it up to me computer through the ethernet port and transfer games that I downloaded to the harddrive and play it from the hardrive?

yes that is true and that is what i have done. You need several things first

-net work with your xbox
-Evox dash board
-craxations (or iso and XBE patching tool)
-new hard disk (if you want to store heaps)

Guys if I install EVOx I wont be able to play on line?

The only reason Im cosidering EVOx is beacause you can play games of the HDD, thats it. But if thats going to sacrifice my online playability then fuck it.


One more question. The xbox is getting modded tomorrow. Will I still have to buy a remote to play DVDs after the mod chip installation?

My friend told me that I dont need the remote if I have a chip, but he has Evox installed. So Im thinking the only reason he can view dvds without the remote is because of evox. If I still have the normal M$ OS can I play dvds without the remote while having the chip?

Shit, I could not get my Xbox modded today since we had the old version of the Aladdin chip.

I have a V1.4Xbox and that old version of the chip only works on 1.0, 1.1,1.2, 1,3.

We ordered the new Aladdin chip that works with 1.4, should be here sometime next week.


P.S I wont install EvoX since I want to play online. I can get burned games no problem, so there isnt a lot of point in installing Evox. Maybe later on.

I never liked the Xbox. I love the PS2. the games might not look as pretty but the game are alot more fun to play. I.E. Gran Trusimo

When I get the Alladin chip, will I need to flash it or anything? Or I can leave it as is?

On some sites it says that the chip comes with the Legal Normal BIOS. Is that good new or bad? If it comes with the regular BIOS does it mean I cant play back ups?

If it's a regular BIOS, I highly doubt it'll boot backup games. Take that for what it's worth, as I don't really know for sure.
I believe it's called Action Replay, but one of those game hacking things can load up games from other regions. I believe they can also load up back up games.

I love this chip though. No switches needed. All I do to disbale the chip is turn on the XBOX with the eject button. I highly recomend this chip.


Now I have SegaGT2002(which I like), Splinter Cell(still on the first level), Apex(awful racer, hate it) and Midtown madness 3(its ok).

Going tomorrow to pick up either Rallisport Challenge or PGR1.

All I need now is the DVD kit.

Okay, I bought PGR1 and 2 and all I can is say is a fucking "WOOOOOOOOW". PGR2 is defenetly THE BEST arcade racer in the history of gaming!!!!The fucking best in the world!!!!!!

My jaw dropped all the way to the floor when I played it, and my friend felt the same.

The graphics are amazing, simply amazing. The sound for each car is very close to the real thing, very close. The cars in this game are just awesome. No blushit Civics and shit like in Grand Tursimo 3. This game is loaded with exotics and great sports cars, plus some american iron. The physics in this game are amazing.....They are a mix of sim and arcade but more arcade. They have some great sim factors in the game which impressed me a lot(me being a sim racer, just look at my sig).

I love this game. This game is probably the best game out there for XBOX or any other console.
