I finally got my camera this weekend...because of logistics it'd been sitting at my house for about two weeks waiting for me! :o

It's a great camera, I really like it, not heavy, easy to use, such a set up in the actual picture-taking side from the point-and-shoot I had been using. The picture quality is excellent as well, if not really a huge increase from the point-and-shoot I was using...but only an increase of 1megapixel or so from that camera...

In the first day I took over 200 pictures haha, the SLR really encourages you to snap away like mad! :P I'm still learning how to use all the settings, but I managed a few decent pictures.

The box: :D

I think this pic shows how detailed the pics the D50 takes are, first the shot at full size, but down to normal res:

Congrats :) Nice SLK, and from the tree photo, the stock lens is supirsingly OK (more so than Canon's stock lens)

I can't wait to jump on the D50 band wagon :)

Still getting familiar using a SLR and already taking some great shots! I should be posting a similar topic in the near future.. ;)

Thanks for the replies, I figured you guys would enjoy the SLK55 AMG pic too...;)

dutchmasterflex : If you haven't already, you might want to check out http://www.dpreview.com/, they have excellent reviews of many different cameras on there, including a really in-depth one of the D50...needless to say I highly recommend the camera, and from my pics you can at least get an idea of the picture quality.

Does the D50 have a 0.2 second start up time like the D70?

Yah, its fucking sweet! I'm still used to the other camera I was using that took at least 2 or 3 seconds to turn on...this is just..."on" and its on. 8)

Yea I've checked out that site a lot lately.. I especially like how you can compare camera's specs side by side. I actually went to my local camera shop yesturday after work to check out the D50 (for the 2nd time). I asked for a SD card so I could take some sample shots but they wouldnt allow me. So your pics are just what I wanted to see :)

If you dont mind me askin, how much did you pick up your kit for?

Around $670 for the D50, 18-55mm Nikkor Lens, and a 512mb SD card, and free shipping. If you look around enough, or wait you might find it cheaper, who knows.

That's a pretty damn good price considering you got the a 512mb SD card and free shipping.. I actually just won an auction on ebay for the same 18-55mm lens kit for $642.. The seller is in my area too, so hopefully all goes well and I can pick up my new baby :)

wow nice shots! I like the backlit tree silouette..

I picked up sandisk ultra II 512mb SD last night thinking I would be able to pick up my camera yesturday. Seems like im gonna have trouble getting the seller to meet up in person... he/she wants me to make the payment online and then mail the camera to me even though I am only 5 minutes away!

Nice Celica shots!

I should really wash my car next time I decide to do a photoshoot, makes quite a difference ;)

By the way, your Celica looks like its in great condition. How many miles has it driven?

Thanks! :D

I am very proud of the paint condition, its really good, but I really must thank the previous owner, it must have been kept in a garage because its so nice, espeically since my car is -cough- 14 years old. It has just over 123,600 miles on it.

yea, the previous owner must have babied that thing.. 14 years old aint too bad, my car turns 10 this year and just did its 120,000th mile a couple weeks ago, closing in on its 121000th pretty quickly :\
