awesome. thanks TT........i do think that Murray is being egotistical about the F1 in comparison to everything else and it comes through in this article. Modesty is not Gordon's strong suit but hey he probably has every right given how spectacular the Macca F1 was and still is.

Have allot of respect for Gordon Murray, and now after reading the article have more respect for Horatio Pagani.
Two great designers that design the cars we love to dream about.

I agree with the other guys about Murray, he didn't make it obvious put a couple of comments made his feelings clear - nothing beats the F1.

Anyway still an interesting insight, learnt alot of little things from the article. :D

Well, in Murray's defense, the whole point why he's been asked to write about cars lately, is because of his link to the F1. It seems rather clear to me, that the editors of the magazines want him to compare what he drives, to his own F1. I don't think it's insecurity or ego, but the fact that he understands the reason why he's been asked to drive a car, then write an article. There are plenty of engineers in the world that could do the same thing as Murray...he's hired, because he can compare with his own F1.

If you take out all the references to the F1, the article could have been written by anyone...okay, car looks like this, this helps aerodynamics, etc. In fact, we've read articles just like this, they're everywhere. What makes this one different? It's written by Gordon Murray and has insight and comparison to the F1.

I also believe he is correct in that the McLaren F1, when introduced, broke much new ground while many newer cars have yet to attain the level of the now, out-of-production F1: from an engineering stand point. Instead, manufacturers refine on concepts, but do not create new concepts...which is not a bad thing, but it was the use of new concept (for a road car), which is what made the McLaren F1 so amazing.
