I can't wait for the PS3 to come out. Those F-1 cars looked amazing!

That shows the hardware at work and it does look damn good, but I am going to reserve final judgement until I see some real-time/gameplay videos. I am also interested in the final price. It is said to be quite high.

I heard it is going to be significantly higher and they were going to justify the cost with performance. Let's hope that your sources are correct and it is near the 360's price.

the killzone and motorstorm vids in that trailers are just rendered video using the ps3 spec. i dont think actual gameplay will run so smoothly. Specially where the soilders are talkin to each other. supposidly the ps3 will have the edge on graphics, but the xbox360 and process much more and have more things happening. But i guess only when ps3 comes out we will see 4 sure.

Those are basically all pre rendered videos. They do look impressive but I'm curious whether the console will be able to handle such graphics in real time.

The PS3 should be able to take the high res mesh's easily - the lighting will be the hard part
After the PS3 comes out, then things will really start to heat up in the game industry.

Is there an official release date for the PS3? Depending on price and features will be the deciding factor for me..

great compilation vid, very entertaining. but yeah, as Daggernite said, a good portion of those weren't actively rendered on the PS3 hardware, but only simulated. But if the PS3 comes close to that, particularly with Killzone's smoke volumetrics, this thing will be a hell of a powerhouse

if any of the Formula 1 graphics were near what gameplay graphics are going to be, god dammit someone find the fast forward button and get us to the unveiling already
Graphics schmaphics... if the game play sucks who cares about th eye candy anyway.
The problem is that if they spent the last 2 years working on the eye candy to exploit the new hardware, one has to woner if they bothered fixing the holes in the engine, play and AI for GT5 ;)
First Person Shooters are better and more fun on PC (because of modding) and driving simulations are better on PC because of conrol and computer power and eye candy - that leaves sports games which are already quite good on current hardware.
Someone explain exactly why one would drop $800 (console + 2 game + controller + accesory of some kind) for an XBox 360 or a PS3?
Forza 2 better be = Forza 1 + GT4 ..... and GT5 better be GT4 + Forza 1 ... ;)

Just for anyone whos intrested. the link above is for the metalgear solid for trailer. This game was running fully on the ps3 and was'nt a pre-rendered video. It is very high standard graphics. and gameplay is almost garenteed if its a metalgear solid game.
Anyway I knw I'm english so this may sound strange. But I believe the superbowl is on. :D
Aren't all the trailers by definition prerendered videos... or at the very least a pre-scripted scene running on the 3D engine with optomised views, options and selections.
Which in the end is still NOT representaive of in-game graphics and play, frame rate, shading and lighting - but rather an advanced show-piece of what the engine can do.
When you boot up your $60 game - you see nothing like the preview trailer.. ;)

if you look carefully you'll notice the "ingame previews" from that clip. Any noob can dismiss this clip as just a video but any body with a fetish for the technology will be able to point out the scenes that are ingame.
but... like you said. they are mostly just scripts of prerendered areas and animation.

Im not exspert in these matters so correct me if im wrong. But I did read that during the tokyo gameshow that hideo kojima and his team was actually pausing there MGS4 trailers and moving around the scene in realtime then resuming playback and all this kinda stuff. Does this mean this is proof that MGS4 is actually running these graphics? its cant just be a pre rendered video can it?
Also from all the video's ive seen on the PS3, I aint seen anythign yet that matches the xbox360 lighting capabilities. I'm trying to figuire out which is the best, but the internet is a hard place to find the answer to that question since each website is either full of fanboys defending there console to death, or biased to the console there dedicated to.
One thing that did catch my attention was the sony employee that was sacked because he spoke out loud about how he thought the xbox360 was the better console, seems alil harsh.

thats the link if anyone wants to read up on that sacked sony worker.

Well I was always gonna go for the PS3 over the xbox360 and as someone said, if the F1 games are anywhere near as good as it looks there then its gonna be awesome.
The only thing that really gets me about these new gen consoles is the fact you HAVE to get a new hi def screen or else it almost renders the point of getting a new console useless.
On another note, I think in the next 5-10 years we are gonna be getting pretty close to photo-realistic games.... can't wait ;)

in 5-10 years i'm hoping to have holographic video.
if you shouldn't need a highdefinition tv to enjoy the new consoles. though it helps any newer tv will look great and if you have a projector...
even better.
