Get a definate list of who is going to be involved, then (concentrate lol), the person who bought signs it, and then sends it to another person in the list. Obviously we would sort this list out, as there is no point it going UK->US->UK->Australia->US->UKe.t.c but I think it would be worth the effort. Then there would be a personal touch from everyone who wanted to be involved.

I doubt it would cost too much individually to send a poster around the world. I think it would mean more if it had gone around the world for everyone to contribute!

What do you think?? Obviously only people who really know they will do this should apply, as it would be a shame to lose the poster half way!

BUT,, the main problem, if we try to forget the messed up payment options we have, since not all of us have paypal or similar ;)... ok, the problem is the time needed for such thing... just to send something from uk to switzerland for instance is 5 days, and consider around 10 from europe to us... well, Christmas is so close LOL!

Here is another problem: I'm used to send items to US (and receive them).. a lot of them and I receive and send packaes every week.. and the fact is: you really have to use a wonder-packaging to make it safe... and to send the same poster over and over again, we will need an iron one because after two travels, a normal packaging would be killed...

That is a great idea about signing a poster and you're both right I would absolutely love that.... I wonder as well as sending the original around the world to be signed... if it could also be scanned in....then e-mailed to the first person who could then print it out and add their signature then re-scan it back in and send it onto the next person.

Obviously the quality could suffer depending on the quality of the scanning but it might still be a lot of fun to do.

i'm down for whatever, i was planning on making a simple donation but i think a combined effort would be better. i just think there's more ideas than plans right now and we need to work out something QUICK cuz christmas is practically tomorrow.

honestly, i think the poster thing is thoughtful, but it's a HORRIBLE idea. the thought counts, yes, but if we were to do it like that it wouldn't get back to jabba til AT LEAST late january i guarantee. if we ARE going to send a poster, i suggest whoever buys it laminates it, and on a seperate thing of construction paper have a title on the top that says something like "JW OWNZ ALL" or something to that extent, and everyone sign on that (and also send a small fee to reimburse the purchaser for the poster), then send it back around to TT (i officially appoint him in charge :wink: ) and he'll attach the signed board to the bottom of the laminated poster via metal links or something like that.

but frankly, with all the people willing to chip in for this, i think we can do a whole lot better than just a poster. it's from each of us yes but we need something that really gets a "WHOA LIKE, THANKS DUDE!!!" message across. something auto related of course that will last a while and be enjoyable. if we're going to do this in time, we have to communicate through mass emails (for secrecy reasons of course), figure out how much cash to send and who to send it to to pay for the gift we all decide. i think it should be TT since, you know.

This thread seemed to have died a bit because no body offered to buy something and let us pay the money via a money doposit on their bank accout... that's the thing I was thinking about because it's the only one that seems do-able IMO.

Hi guys! Been away for a while, but at least I'm back before I was too late to be in on this. I think it's a great idea to send a present to Jabba. The poster to be signed by everyone and sent around the world sounds great. The thing is that it's kind of risky. Postal services fuck up all the time or damage goods. It would be such a shame if the poster would have travelled half the globe and then got lost. If we're going ahead with this I'm game, though.

The signing-scanning-emailing thing is rather unpersonal. I have to agree with brembo on that. Still, it's better than nothing.

Isn't there something in between those two methods? Is there a way of applying handwritten messages, sent by mail, onto a poster? I'm thinking that might make it possible for the poster to hold handwritten stuff (making it personal) without running the risk of everyone's efforts going down the drain when something happens to the poster. If anything goes wrong when sending an autograph only one and not the whole thing will be affected.

Two more things: I personally don't mind if it doesn't get there by christmas (time is too limited and it's the thought that counts) and I don't have a credit card or Paypal.

So, does anyone know of a way to apply handwritten things on a poster?

this kind of reminds me of my graduation party idea. i had this idea that instead of me and my friends throwing our own individual parties, me and six of my closest would throw one MASSIVE party, it was surely a grand idea, but the idea only came a few weeks before graduation.

so yeah. this idea was great (and the thought counts, surely) but frankly there isn't enough time. for now i say we just send our best wishes and holiday cards to the SELF PROCLAIMED NON FAT jabba and plan something monster (hehe no pun intended) for either his birthday or the jabbasworld birthday (that's my idea that i just came up with yeehaw).

BUT if somebody can come up with a grand scale idea that can be executed by the middle of next week then count me in.

Ok, here are our possibilities how I see it:

1. Everyone who wants to contribute pays via bankaccount OR paypal to one person (TT or a well known UK member of JW) and he buys something for Jabba and delivers it via mail or personally...

2. The poster thing:
- First option: mail it around and get everyone to sign it. IMO: not possible
- Second option: everyone signs it electronically and we send it through via mail. IMO: not personal
- BUT we could also send a little note to one person (lets say everyone uses a white 15 by 15 cm paper) with his best wishes to jabba. That one person can then glue them on a poster for instance and mail the poster to jabba... I think this is the only possible way to execute the poster idea...

3. We send a greeting card to one person who then delivers them to jabba (since he prefers to keep his adress a secret - wich I understand)

Plz people, I hope we can come to a conclusion on this asap... don't want to push people, I just hope we can get this organized and time is kinda running out!!!

Dang, I'd really like to be able to focus 100% on the choice, but with all the activity here andsome more luttle problems in real life I'm quite distracted..

As I already said, I'd like to be the "bank", but first, I use Paypal with my girl so it would be ok to send money for me, but little bit messy to receive it...
and since my life outside the web is a little bit "confused" lately, I'm not sure I can assume the responsability to collect the money in different ways (since there will be ppl sending via Paypal, others via Money orders, others via credit card or even cash...)..

HOW:
1. We have to find someone who can work with photoshop or paintshop.
2. Everyone (who can & wants to) writes his nick and/or name on a WHITE piece of paper and scans it. You then mail it to the photoshop/paintshop dude.
3. The photoshop/paintshop dude then makes the white background transparent and puts it on a high quality picture (car - babe) - preferably with a lighter picture so the text is readable.
4. The photoshop/paintshop dude mails is to jabba.

Great to see we're finally getting somewhere. I didn't want to interfere before because that would only complicate matters. These are a few things I'd like to say:

1. I don't have photoshop, nor do I own a scanner. But I think it would be possible also to draw a signature on a white background in Paint or a similar program.

2. I don't know how many people will go along with this initiative but if we want to put let's say thirty signatures (possibly a few words) on one picture, it's got to be a very high res. one. I wouldn't know where to get it. Perhaps a self shot photo will do. Possibly one or a collage of TT's pictures of the day (I always like those)?

If we find a graphic wizard and a picture/poster we're set to go.

Ok, here's how it is. I'm sorry that I couldn't have arranged this earlier but I have been away a lot and DEMON wasn't around much BUT he can help us with this he says. This is how:

1. Everyone who wants to participate and put his name and/or nick on a white (no lines in the background plz) piece of paper and scans it. Plz keep the file size small (max 80kb lets say).

2. mail it to mailto:[email protected]

Remark: we still need a nice high res picture (preferably not to dark) to put the signatures on. If you have a good one, plz mail it to demon, but don't send 20 or so... his mailbox has it's limits.

I'm not the photoshop specialist but I suppose so. As long as the background is white so he can make it transparent...

If it's only that little number of sigs, the picture doesn't have to be that big. Considering the amout of pages this thread counts I'm surprised that you got only 4 sigs. Are you sure you checked all your mails and PMs, demon? Perhaps you should mention the names so that everyone who sent one can be sure that his sig got to you.

Aha cool. But I think the best is that we pospone this till newyear since there aren't many responses yet. but i just got a digi cam,, maybe i can write signature etc on a piece of whtie paper, and then take a pic of it, and sent it to demon

Try Paint. Just mess around a little bit. It's pretty easy to draw your name, then save as .jpeg. Won't look professional but that's not imprtant. :D
