ŦLimited to 15 cars worldwide, the "Weineck Cobra 780 cui Limited Edition" is a completely legal roadcar. The project was born at the German company "Weineck Engineering", and is immediatley recognisable by the enormous airscoop on the bonnet. It's necessary to pump enough air into the huge 12.9 litre (!), or 780 cubic inch engine. Press the gaspedal to prepare for launch, and more than half a litre of gasoline flows through the carburator.
The engine reaches 1100 bhp @ 7000rpm, and a torque of 1760 Nm @ 5600rpm. The figures are amazing: a specific power of 0.9 kg/ bhp, 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in only 4.9 seconds, and onto 300 km/h (186 mph) in exactly 10 seconds.
All this power is transferred to the rear axle using a manual 4-speed transmission.
The car stands on 18" 255mm/40mm tires in the front, and 18" 315mm/35mm tires in the back.ŧ

Weineck 850
0-200 km/h in 4.9 sec

Wow - I heard the Cobra was notoriously difficult to drive with just the 428 was it?

Chassis dynamics with 1100hp would just be scary

Ah, you are saying the interior is finalized like that? I thought it was just a hole they still needed to fill with something :P

Thanks for sharing!

7000 rpm for a 780 CID.... well, i bet if you shift at peak torque, the engine will last uber-long, while retaining 100,000 miles between overhauls

not to sound gay, but isn't that a bit excessive? you'd expect that from southern redneck that love drag racing.

OMG The first car to really kick the Veyrons ass  Iīve seen a vid once about a Weineck Cobra. The accelleration was unbelievable.

12.9 litres and carburetor ? Now this is impressive technology

The ultimate POS is this Weineck or should I say Redneck ?

INSANE!!!

And top speed is...????

I donīt think it goes more than 330 or so. Surely not because it hasnīt enough grunt ( ) but itīs nor very aerodynamic and it would fall to pieces at higher speed.

Sill... an already fast car, but this is just scary. :D

I doubt that with a chassis like that and those aerodynamics to do 200-300 kph in 5 seconds. 0-100kph is in what, 2 seconds? That's Formula 1 territory.

I call BS on those figures.

Banchi105
01-17-2006, 04:24 PM
And this is well more than formula 1 power. With not too much more than formula weight. Mix that in with a set of slicks and then the figures dont seem nearly as outlandish.

^^^ do you think that`s it ? weight and power ?

How about aerodinamics , how about grip ?

HP conquers all - you do know that dragsters with worse aero's have gone quicker?

I think that it is also a question of traction  and in this case it must count a lot :P

I realise that. I doubt however the Weineck generates enough downforce to create enough traction for a 0-200 kph launch in less than 5 seconds.

please drag cars can out do 200kph in a 1/4 mile. that is only maybe in the 10-11 sec. range. and with the right suspension set up it will hold. (on racing slicks)

Exacly what I was thinking... for me the Cobra is the sound, the looks - not the 4.9secs to 200kmh... which is damn impressive BTW, although I'd like to see it. This car must be scary even over 120kmh :D

And Veyrons 1000 is not execise?

At least this doesnt need 4 turbos, trillion intercoolers, and a billion $$$ to make.

Hell this car makes more sense then that Veyron junk.

anyone else noticed that the first pics of the car are just pics of a regular cobra, and the engine with the 550 CID isnt exactly the the 780.

Both make no sense.

The original Cobra 289 is stated to be a better drivers car than the 427. I doubt this car can do anything besides rocketing forward. This setup defeats the whole point of what kind of car the Cobra originally was.

Still cool, but definately not sensible...

I do however agree the Veyron is junk ;)

Whoever calls this redneck is a moron. You wouldn't know class if it puched you in the face, this is no camaro...tools. This thing is a monster. I would love to see some vids to prove the #'s but you mama's boys who claim "drag racing is for fags who can't drive" wouldn't know what kicked your ass to the curb when this thing passed all over your ass. ha! Bring on the cubes and quit your bitchin'.

Theres no point comparing this to a cobra, if you read the website it is just a fibreglass body with a custom designed chassis underneath. So is likely to cope much better with the power.

Also aero grip makes very little difference on any vehicle under at least 100mph. Before then its pretty much all power to weight ratio, which this car does rather well.

^^ Exactly... not on that chassis. 2fast2furious seems to have made it all the way to the deep south.
