Ok, wtf is it with this wonder bread fascination here? It is bloody disgusting. This shit aint bread, its cotton...
Last night I was out of bread, needed some for the morning, so I run to buy some bread at 10 pm at shoppers drugmart (like a an over priced small grocery shop with drugs, drinks, magazines, candy) so the only bread they had there is Wonder Bread, and to my amazment there where only two peices left, on this rather big dedicated shelf.
Now if you taste this crap I dont even know where it gets name "bread". It like this super soft, extra white, nasty ass bitter tasting, cotton like shite.
Have you Canadians, or I guess Americans too ever taste real bread?
Like Russian Black Bread(only thing RUssian that I like)
Or your good old morning backed, natural white bread
WTF is it with this fascination with this crap? :|

I mostly only buy my bread from the markets or a deli down the street from me.
I hate wonder bread, and their hamburger buns etc...
and why do people buy wonder bread - it is cheap and easy!

It's a good batch, tastes the same as the one I bought some time ago, I just got my rant on today.

i wouldn't know.
i make my own shit from bread flour (robing hood) good yeast, a little salt and olive oil with your taste of water.
anything and everything starts with these ingredients.
id like to know whats in wonder bread though...

I prefer wheat bread that has little nuts & stuff in it. I think that type is called "12-Grain" in some brands.
White bread just doesn't do it for me, unless it's at an Italian restaurant and is freshly made.

Thats where Europeans differ from North Americans I guess.
I like fine things in life. I'd rather spent 2x the money on a good bottle of wine then buy a cheap bottle of local wine that tastes like shit. So its either good wine, or no wine.
Same with bread. I'd rather spent 3$ on a fine loaf of bread from the local bakery, when its still warm.
And it's not like people who dont have money buy wonder bread. I see regualr canadians making good money no doubt buying this crap.
Now who goes to the bakeries? Immigrants.....

next time your thinking how to make 20$ last for three weeks, while being able to function as normal as you can.... easing on the throttle... driving as little as you can...
i dont know about you, but i'd rather eat then not eat. I'd eat porridge if its all i could afford.
BTW... being that i could afford what is higher quality... i go for it... but after getting off my high horse... if i cant... then i make do. Beer is different... i'd much rather drink less, while having higher quality, then a labatts, or a budweiser... i go for a Hoegarrden, or a high quality Kolsh, or hefe-weisen... but being that i can survive w/out any beer; where food is a nessesity.
so, you need to understand that some people are on a different budget then what you live...

Quite oppositely I prefer wonderbread.. Well that and Sunbeam. It could be that I grew up with it so Im use to it.
Its not exactly a new thing. Wonderbread first appeared 80 some years ago.
The reality is, its all what your use too.

I am sorry mate, but if you are poor enough not to be able to afford a 2 dollar bread instead of a 1 dollar bread then you are doing something seriously wrong.
Its not cars we are talking about. Its bread.

You see I can understand that, after all it's all about what you grew up with and such.
But mind you I tried many different breads from different countries and wonder bread just doesnt taste like any of them. It doesnt taste right, it doesnt feel right....It is good for toasts though
Much like the milk here is a joke.
They call this milk? Its more like water with some white protein powder.
I grew up with milk that I bought on the market in the morning straight out of a cow.
And that milk tastes nothing like this junk here. Real milk is creamy, with a very rich taste ummmmmmmmmmmm.

have you ever been laid off? not had anybody to turn to, and you only had what you have?
or for that matter, being paid by the job... and not knowing when your next job is coming?
get of your high horse man... seriously :?
not everybody is willing to go into welfare either.

lol mate you are taking this way to close to your heart...
As I said, its the well off people who buy the wonderbread, not the poor.
Anyway I dont really want to go any further with this...obviously there is a big misunderstand and this thread went on the wrong path :|
And on the fact of being laid off...Well I came into a tottaly different country with 4 family members who had no jobs, who had nothing, a fresh start just some 5 years ago. So trust me I know, I exeprianced what it is like to be in a dire financial situation. But my family always manages to eat well. Like cook your own food, dont take the taxi when going grocery shopping, dont blow your money on movie rentals.
So no matter how poor I ever was I always manage to eat good food.
I know of people here who get a mortgage and get a car, but then eat shit like wonder bread to pay their bills.
I have a different on look on life. Id rather live in an apartment and eat well then live in a house and be in debt up to my ass.
I also use public transportation so I can enjoy quality beer with friends, go to a restaurant every once in a while, and once again eat well at home
