Upgrading Finally.

Here are the parts i am upgrading. I have a 1.7 P4 dell right now and thats all we need to say about that.

As for the case im planning on buying a new PSU if i have any problems
And i have that motherboard cus i like my graphics card and dont need anything better then agp. I Also plan to buy round cables since i have 3 hd's and 3 optical drives.

just wait a year till the new windows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista) comes out , cause you will prob. need to upgrade to dual core everything by then.

yeah, good suggestion. If I were you, I'd get an AMD X2 (dual core) 3800+ and a really good mobo with PCI express like the ASUS AN8-SLI Deluxe cuz that way you are prepared for the future and you dont need to buy network or soundcard cuz Nforce 4 mobo have it integrated.

Yeah I'd get a different case, or at least a psu with more than 20a on the 12v rail immediately, rather than wait for it to cause problems. When the psu starts having problems, chances are it'll kill something along with it when it dies.

I know that the asrock mobos are good, but is it wise to get an opteron with it? I know the asrocks have a fairly restricted voltage setting on the cpu and that's gonna lower the chances of any overclocking you'll be doing with that opteron.

The reason i went with the asrock was the pciexpress for upgrading later and the agp for my ATi aiw that i have now. Ive heard of a mod for the vcore but dont think i will be doing an oc that is serious enough to need it.

From what ive seen of vista i think i want to stick to xp pro.

ive just bought an opteron 146 for $187 shipped. Since i saved money i changed my case. I also got a beter heatsync now

Rather than take the risk and wait a few months, I'd just use the money you saved and get a fortron or something. Good and cheap psu.
