yeah, hes lucky he let off the throttle pretty early, the car was down to about 200kph before it started flipping. That would be friggin scary, I wonder if the guy still drives racecars.

Great video, shows you that people know how to drive fast in a straight line but cannot handle slowing down properly at all, he should have just let the car keep on going and start to slow down slowing, because he still had 3 tires on the ground. But yeah, rollcages save lives. I would love to do that event looks really sweet, all the speed that you want and it is completely legal.
Very scary, and to think a tire can just blew up while cruising on the highway at normal speed if not at the right pressure.. not funny at all.
But luckily enough the 350 was very well equipped and the driver wasn't hurt :)
damn...from the inside camera it looked like the whole roof structure gave in ...dunno how he survived..

Very lucky man he is. Thank goodness the Silver State event people have toughened up their safety requirements. I remember back in the early days, a couple perished when their Testarossa suffered tire failure at high speed, and all because the owner put the wrong speed rated tires on and it passed tech inspection.

he did, you see him at the end. He is the same guy who tested the Blizt GT-R R348, Dai chan.

holy shit! now thats one hell of a crash. Glad the driver walked away. even though he had 3 tyres left he could not of saved it at that speed. its a shame that tyres dont advance as fast as technology...
sorry i guess i didnt word that very well...i know he survived, its just from the onboard camera it looks like he probably shouldnt have.

Again, it shows how roll cage can save life. Do you guys think they should put some sort of roll cage in everyday cars?

its a good idea. it doesn't even have to be at high speeds to need them. many trucks have been able to crush cars even at speed limits. because of their weight they can do a lot of damage. the only problem is you'd probably need to climb over them especially the rear occupants.

thats not a case of "been owned" thats a serious motor vehicle accident in a sporting event!!!
he is very lucky to have survived, and lucky that the car diden't flip over imediatley after the tyer burst!!
omg incredible!
Well - looking at the video, I (my own amateur opinion) really think he should have NOT have tried to engine break the car to a stand still with a blown tyre (let alone use the breaks). I would have done the conventional wisdom method of, foot off the throttle and let the car slow down, especially while cresting a hill at 200mph.
It seems as he crested the hill the induced some severe off throttle over steer by continually shifting the weight around as he geared the car down.
Glad he survived (and you see now why open class unlimited Silver State Classic entrants have some serious rules).
Seems like he was holding it above 200mph the whole way - on the way to a good time.

That road is amazing though! Never seen such a long and straight road!
they are quite common in countrys with massive land masses (ie: Australia, America and Antartica)
i don't think any of us are in the position to critisise his actions as soon as the tyre blew!!!
lol cuz personaly i would of shat myself!
a million things would be racing through you're mind
ie: am i going to survivie my car flipping over 50 times at 300km/h!

I think he could have expected this. I mean, he should have known his tyres weren't capable of doing speeds like that. I don't think he fitted the same tyres as are on a McLaren F1 or a Bugatti Veyron. Still, even those tyres have trouble doing speeds like that.
If I was in this guys shoes I would have probably thought the same thing Mark Webber said he thought when his CLK GTR decided to take off at the Mulsanne straight: "This is gonna hurt."

WOW It was 250+ when he flipped over.
He was lucky to stay alive.
If this car wuold be without rollcage he woul die.

well i dont think much of anyone coulda stayed 100 percent on control when a tire blew at that speed, but luckily he esacped unscathed, and its a shame such a awesome car got destroyed, JUN makes some sick sick cars. and its not owned, cause nothing stupid was being attempted

They do put a "roll cage" in every day cars. They reinforce the roof, doors, behind the engine, and behind the back seat. Not as good as a 10 point but still saves lives.
