So I'm planning another trip to Europe, this time in the summer (End of June, beggining of July). Going to Amsterdam during a record breaking winter really made me want to go back in nice weather.

I will be traveling by train from country to country to save on money, but while I'm in Germany I would love to rent a car, preferably a RWD, Manual Transmission, and a nice engine.. I'm thinking a long the lines of a BMW 325i.

Basically what I am unsure about is price and what age you have to be to rent such a car and will I be able to take on a race track?

Driving on the unlimited Autobahn is something I've always wanted to do but I have been dreaming of driving on a track and what better than to lap the Nurburgring.

I know a couple members have visited the 'Ring so I'm hoping you can give me a little more information to help me plan my trip :)

thanks!

Well, for "premium" cars you usually need to be 25 yo. Never seen rentals with something like an E90 325 though, so no idea.
No rental company allows their cars to be taken on track. But well, the ring is officially a public road with no speed limit

I know all big car rental companys, such as Hertz you need to be 25 to rent anything. A E46 BMW would be ideal.. but really anything fun to drive is key.

So do you think I could legally lap a rental around the 'Ring because its a public road?

Insurance premiums are higher for u-25s, so it might just end up being more expensive. I'm not sure, I've never tried.

oh man... that doesnt sound good at all.. I was hoping for atleast a Mini or VW Golf..

Anybody know any "exotic" car rentals that have both ferrari's and "regular" sports cars? I was able to rent RX-8 earlier this year in Hawaii from a exotic rental place.
