Quite frankly I do not trust ANY stats from Google.

Most of the sites people end up ot their "top hit" from purchasing add space on Google.

Years ago, the relevance of a top hit on Google was real, these days it is simply the result of manipulation.

Folks love to hate Micro$haft - calling Gates the devil... but little do they realize their "friend" Google is goign to be the real problem in the years to come.

If ever a "Corporation" fit the bill of the "Corporations" of sci-fi that "rule" the world, Google is it ;) Hehehe

umm.... google and wikipedia are different. and will never compete.
google is a search that gives you sites and you can reference sites,
you can't reference wikipedia

and who are these "they" :P

wikipedia is shit too.. because its possible for a few ignorant people to permanently skew the info on any subject they like with constant edits of anything that goes against their agenda

^^ Oddly enough after last week when a college professor attacked wickopedia for inaccuracies, wiki tried to claim they were more accurate then Britannica.

Needless to say I still havent stopped laughing.

well wiki is a good idea in principle, but ruined by the ignorance/bigotry/stupidity/jealousy etc of man

ya they should make you put in a Mensa pin or somthing b4 editing :P
for those who don't know what Mensa is you might want to wiki or google that

that would work, if having a high IQ automatically made people immune from such things, but it doesn't :P

well you can look at the history of course and a study did show that they weren't that different for scientific facts however personally i use it to look at and then go and research the concepts/ key thinkers/ theories there if I don't already know about them. Never will be accurate but then how many times do you come across other sources which disagree with each other!

The study was paid for by wiki, thats why I find it funny. The truth is their entries are very bias and Ive seen a number that were factually incorrect. Convient their paid study came out 2 days after a professor ripped them for a fake article about him. Am I making an insinuation? You be the judge.

I think that all this Anti-Google'ism here is quite funny. It's almost as if you were discovering a major cover up by the US Government of some secret alien related stuff "Google is the enemy..." blah blah blah...

It's not a "major coverup" - it's about the power of cash... and Google has billions of dollars worth... ;)

I searched for none of those things. I'm surprised pornographic material was not one of the top searches (not that I search for those).

Which is why I doubt Google stats - they manipulate and alter output to have the greatest impact and affect on their business model ;) Selling search and add space :)

What company would want to buy add space if the truth about porno searches was known.. :P

I find it silly that they're called 2005 a 'zeitgeist'. They're really stretching the definition.
