Better in what aspect? Miata is a much better drivers car (handling, steering), built heaps better, and (IMO) looks a lot better too.

Well i think it is a cool car... but i understand 90% of the euros here hate everything that comes from over here except the CTS... so its too be expected it will be an uncool car. anyways over here you can get one nearly loaded for under 30 grand... when the better rated engines come out, its going to be a great little car. cool.

why is it better... it's looks. its one thing to be young and have a miata... but every time i see some old guy in one, i just cant help but think this guy has bought the car for the wrong reasons, and is trying to compensate.

even if it performs slightly worse... the styling of the Miata is pure born, and bread 'bland' this car sticks out, and it has that special something to me. TBH, i havent read a single review of the solstice yet... ive just seen dozens on the road, and the car definately has presence that is extremely lacking in the MX-5

Cool.. Imho great looking car, fun to drive, and apparently highly modifiable. Not that its relationship to the miata measures on whether its cool, but it also is a few thousand cheaper then the miata.

Saw the Solstice at the autoshow earlier this year. Great looking car with the smooth, simple design. With ~1300kg and 177hp from the 2.4L ecotec originally designed by Lotus, that doesn't sound bad for a $20k roadster.

Although the solstice has 100-200kg more weight than the Miata, it does compensate by having 7 more hp and 26 lb-ft more torque, both available at lower rpm. So in terms of performance, they should be fairly comparable especially in normal everyday driving.

In terms of look and coolness, I'll definitely give it to the Solstice since last time I talked to someone about the Miata was a 60yr old :wink:

If vauxhall does decide to build the VX Lightning concept, it'll most likely be based on the same platform. There could be more power/handling improvements that will be transplanted back to the Pontiac version. Perhaps it'll eventually get the supercharged 205hp 2L ecotec already in used by the cobalt SS?

It's kinda neat, but according to 90% of all reviews out there, the new MX5 is the better car.

Having said that, I haven't driven either, so I don't know how they'll stack up.

I do like the older model MX5 tho', it was a real cracker to drive, and if the new one is anything like it, I sure wouldn't mind giving it a whirl.

*edit* as an added bit of info, I'd just like to mention that this car is anything but practical. Boot space being non-existant. I don't like the honey comb front grills either, they look out of place since they sit so flush with the front of the car. Kinda like Audi TT style, but the TT makes it look good due to the single grill.
