i see the 3 cylinder plymouth horizon in that car... strangest car ive ever driven. the accellerator was either on or off... and there wasnt a such thing as a difference between full throttle, and light accelleration... albiet, it wasnt anything more then light accelleartion.

brakes were damn scary too.
Seriously uncool if its very similar...but since i dont actually know, just uncool

The car seems to me so-so...although Ive even driven the GTE 1.6 version of it, I dont like too much how its sorted the aspects such as the suspensions, chasis, brakes...for instance i do prefer the suspensions and etcetera of every astra. However, the cars built quality is great, and i like a lot the OHC engines as well with a lot of torque in low revs, a lot of power, low fuel consumption, reliable engines......

So uncool it hurts. The only redeeming quality is being cheap.

I had an '86 nova 1.3 Sport - 1 of 500 made to get homologation for Group N. Very little info available on the web regarding this model. After i ran it in with stock carby, it was taken to Blydenstein who fitted a pair of Webber DCOE 40's, exhaust and cam and tuned the engine. After coming out in it's full spec, my car could happily chase 1.6 Golf GTI's and keep up with 'em - was great fun back then. Only drawback was hot starting. It was a true pocket rocket 20 years ago. So they ain't all bad. This was the first HOT Nova in my area and was a great car that was sadly highjacked by chav halfwits in future incarnations.

Reading the post from Globalfish reminded me of one of Colin McRae's first rally cars, the 1.3 litre Nova Sport, a giant killing car, and Colin made some giant killing perfomances in his Group A version. Colin finished in the top 10 on British International rallies in this car, beating cars with more than double the power. A friend of mine had one of the 500 off Nova Sports and they were good cars, not sure about the more standard models though.

Here is the only bit of film I can find of Colin in his Nova.

Uncool:

Not a bad car at all in terms of reliability, built quality and fuel consumption

On the other hand, if someone misses the french cars handling, decent breaks or suspension, the car will dissapoint someone.

Ive also driven the 80cv Opel Corsa GT (the equivalent to the nova in the continental Europe) it does perform quite well, and the steering wheel is quite well sorted compared to the kadett (the asta in the UK) or the vectra (the cavalier in the Island), but the chasis and suspensions are crap (specially on the motorways), the brakes are so so, and the gearbox isnīt smooth at all either

seriously uncool for me,the reputation it has here in the UK is just terrible.i thought they had all been pretty much blown up,as for about 6 months here not a single one was about, but now it seems a reunion has happened and theres loads about again, including one in a sorta pink colour and stupid exhaust.

uncool cars driven by uncool chavs

It's a vauxhall, and it looks like it was made in Eastern Europe.

I got one as a replacement vehicle once, and was quite surprised to find it rather agreeable to drive.

As long as you wring its little neck, and keep the rev counter well above 5,000 rpm, it's much zippier than most of the Pugs and other dreariness out on the roads these days.

Not that that makes it cool, mind, just not the "seriously uncool" one would habitually rate a Vauxhall/Opel at.
