I'm a 3D car modeler, and I realized a 3D low-poly Ferrari Enzo for my bachelor. Here you're some images:

Very nice! What program did you use to make the 3D models?

How many polys is that model?

I modeled it in Zanosa Modeler. The model is lowpoly (8467), created for videogames.

Ciao!

That's pretty damn good. I've never used Z-Modeler before but I'm familiar with it. Since Z-modeler is primarily used for games I'm curious how it handles lighting a scene? Your model looks spot on (taking into account that it is low-poly) and I'd love to see it in some realistic lighting. I know that thing could look damn near photo-realistic if I lighted it in a Vray render environment. Terrific work.

You probably already know, but you can't go wrong with Maya or 3D Studio Max. They might even become one big powerhouse program since both companies are now one (Autodesk bought Alias). Who knows though, maybe they will stay seperate programs. It wouldn't hurt to try Z-modeler as well since you see here the results that can be achieved. There is also Blender 3D (http://blender.org/cms/Home.2.0.html) which is an open source 3D program. Unfortunately I am not too familiar with it other than knowing it exists.

Kind of a silly question, but to do those types of 3D images, you have to be really good at drawing in pen and paper right? I mean, I dont see how someone with no skills to draw on pen and paper could ever be able to do such things.

Not at all. The most important thing is obviously being familiar with the program you are using and also having good reference material (you will hear a lot and learn about the importance of "reference material" when dealing with digital and physical 3D). Now obviously some will have a knack for doing this type of stuff and some simply won't pick it up no matter how hard they try, but being a good pencil/pen artist is not at all necessary (it doesn't hurt though). Anymore questions, ask away?

sweet man is there any other programs like Maya7 that could do that?
