Hi guys,
I am planning to spend 3 weeks in Montreal next January and would like to know what I must not miss? Where should I go and what should I visit?
I have also seen that at the end of January there is a car show in Montreal. Is it worse to go?
May be it could be the opportunity to meet some Canadian JW's members there?
cheers

i cant say ive been that far into the great white north... but right around that time frame... the Autoshow circuits hit north america for a couple months, starting with the premier show in Detroit, NAIAS. I think it would be worth it to see the show if your there during it to get an idea of what kind of cars we have over this side of the pond.

Montreal is a great city, lots of things shouldnt be missed, but i am not sure if what i wouldnt miss is the same for you?... anyways enjoy your stay, the women of montreal are fantastic, its a very cool city, one of my favorites in Canada for sure! you should go skiing/snowboarding while you are here...doesnt compare to the Alps but the little 'hills' in the area are pretty good nonetheless. 8)

yeah Montreal is a great place! I'm in Burlington VT...about 2 hours south. if you like skiing go to jay peak, it's just on the US side of the border and gets more snow than any mountain in the america's (it some weather phenomenon called the "jay effect") Peel Pub is a lot of fun as are most of the bars right around McGill University.
i think i'll be up there for the autoshow as well. have a great time!

do you think I could also find a Murcielago for 1$ there :?:
Thanks guys for all these tips. I think I will try to organise a few days in "Mont Tremblant" and go for some skiing sessions...
For the track, do you think it will be also open in winter? would be fun to make a tour on the snow...

Oups ! I didn't see this tread...too many forum here at JW.
Ronin did an excellent job to describe you several activities in Montréal. http://www.rs6.com/smilies/thumbsup2.gif
You will see Hamlet that we are very welcoming in Québec and we like clubbing and partying. In Montreal, the main arteries & streets are (St-Catherine) for shopping and entertaining, (St-Laurent) for partying and to go eat in those great reputed restaurant, (St-Denis) there are a lot of specialized shops, several coffee and pub and good restaurant.
Indeed you can benefit from your stay to visit the Montreal Auto Show at the Palais des Congrès of Montréal from January 20 to January 29. It's not so bad that, sometimes we have beautiful surprise like this :

:!: There's no racing circuit opened in the winter in Quebec.
You can always watch a hockey game from the Canadien of Montréal.

Don't forget to go to skiing at Mont Tremblant (It is already open), you can drive some snowmobile there's... we are the most enthusiast of this incredible winter machine, this is normal we have invented (Bombardier)! .If you have time, I recommend to you to go to Quebec city, it's a very beautiful historical city and there's a tons of Ski resort near that place like the great Mont Saint-Anne ski resort.

merci beaucoup Schwalbe pour les infos, je pense que je vais passer un bon moment...
In fact, my wife is working there since last September as Montessori teacher in the Ahuntsic (??) area. I am coming for the first time to visit her and see how she is installed. But she was quite busy with her new job until now and has still a lot of things to discover.
That would be really cool if we could meet there. I will drop you a MP to organise something. Otherwise, I am doing a lot of sport and would like to make some cross-country skiing. I thing it would be the best also to discover the country. I have already found a few places around and in Montreal for skating, let see once I am there.
Thanks very much to all of you guys for all your tips and will post pics during my trip to show you.
Bye

Quebec city is indeed great and ive been to ST Anne to vouch for it it is a great ski hill no doubt. I didnt get to see many sites in Quebec city, i went two years str8 and only saw strip clubs, the hotel and bars, but thats the norm when u go with 200 kids from ur highschool and there are 500 kids in the hotel all from 30 min away from ur house... with breakaway tours package trips, this was a pheominal experience in highschool underage drinkin in quebec! anyways montreal is one city i want to spent more than an afternoon in. Although i did have a chance to check out Auto Zone ( F1 store and it is great.... bought a black Ferrari hat with prancing horse logo and have worn it a million times since i bought it. great store with lots of fantastic merchandise for the auto enthusiast. make sure to stop there!
