Just installed few days ago 15day trial of Norton Antivirus.
If you look at the time - I have not been at that time at home and anyone else was at home :?
Is it a BS to make me think that its a good antivirus?

Well I am getting bombarded with that via my yahoo email account, clearly one of my contacts has it :bah: Just a warning that its a rapidly spreading virus currently i guess. Sadly some people are thick and open attachments from dodgy emails.
W32.Sober.X@mm is a mass-mailing worm that uses its own SMTP engine to spread and lowers security settings. It sends itself as an email attachment to addresses gathered from the compromised computer. The email may be in either English or German.

you DON'T have the virus as far as i can see, its just making you aware its about. Just beware of opening any emails from friends which aren't normal http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/

That gives you some sample emails. All the emails addresses its sent from are spoofed, however I have had some from legitimate adresses that have been spoofed (from their address book) but it is always the same type of stupid message. exactly why you should always be careful and scan attachements. Yahoo mail does it automatically, but i always double check.

That message usually appears after Norton have sent and you have installed new protection against a recently developed virus that is spreading throughout the world.
It means you are protected not infected ;)

Norton in my opinion is terrible. Once installed it is near impossible to remove it from your PC. it gets hidden deep within the registry as part of its anti virus monitoring which the only way to get rid of is to re-format. 2nd, because it monitors everything cumin in and out of the pc all the time, it drastically slows down ur pc. My advice is dont pay for norton. get either the AVG free edition which is the best free anti virus available or use limewire morpheus etc to download the full verdsion for free. Also gert spyware doctor and your pc is virtualy imune to virus and spyware. As a test i delibretly went on dodgy web sites *(yes including porn...against my wishes you understand) and i scanned with avg and spyware doctor and any virus's and spyware found would be instabtrly deleted and with the daily update all known virus and spyware files are found and deleted. Hope this helps!!

Dont really like AVG + it havent found the viruses several times. NOD http://www.eset.com/home/home.htm is better imo. And its also from Czech :D

I have been using Avast for about two years now and I have no problems with viruses and such. You guys may laugh that the Avast guys are located in Belgrade, but that is Europe's silicon valley. These guys specialize in commercial versions of this system.
I tried McAfee twice-buggy. Norton, on two separate computers I had problems with the sucker updating, that was my only gripe.
