Looking to cool my laptop as much as possible to try and get a bit more juice out of my GPU. I've got a 17" laptop, Radeon 9700 256mb gpu, P4 3.4 with HT, 7200prm 60 gig HD.

Haven't opened her up yet but i've got 3 fans:

Which are roughly

60/70mm
40/50mm
30/40mm

Who make the best laptop fans (lowest noise and highest volume flow rate) in these sizes for laptops - not sure what depth they are yet.

I'm also thinking about getting a laptop cooling pad - do these things actually do any good? If so, who makes the best (proven lower temps) that will fit my 17 incher.

Also, what about temp sensing? How do i find if my PC already supports this. What kind of software/hardware do i need to get to get some readings inside?

Anything else? Any amazing water cooling devices u can get for laptops?

I heard Hitachi have made a water cooled laptop but i think its only available as one unit??

Cheers for any suggestions

Download "speedfan", if there are any sensors, it'll find'm ;)

Cheers for that mate, looks like I only have the two - one of which i think is my harddrive and the other i dont know.

Chip is ACPI and is running at 58 degrees.... any ideas? :? Will it detect my fans automatically like it does with the temps, or do u have to set it up as i dont have any at the moment? Or does no fan detection mean u cant control/monitor them?

EDIT: surely there must be more temp sensors and fan controls as it automatically raises and lowers fan speed depending on either CPU usage or i guess CPU temp? Any idea how i find the controller for them?

whats the temp outside? have you tried using it out there?
