Ok so here's my story of a company that clearly IMO illustrates the truth of "pay peanuts get monkeys"

Previously i had ordered a product and received reasonable service for a very good price although they didn't tell me when i ordered additional security checks were needed, which slowed delivery, still that was sorted and i got the goods.

Now I ordered a camera and accessories from them last Thursday, I was not told when i ordered they were having computer problems which may delay the orders dispatch. Still i gave them another chance thinking it wouldn't be to long. So after ordering last Thursday I rang on Tuesday as the status had not changed. After waiting on hold for 35 or 40 minutes, I got through to a nice girl who informed me that contrary to what the order tracking service said my order was being packed as we speak and she would try to make sure it would be dispatched that day.

Now nothing had changed and I got through on the phone to them on Wednesday after another long wait, I was told my order was still being "packed" fucking slow packers eh! Anyway the guy said he would make sure it was dispatched that day, he would refund my delivery cost and send it next day delivery. He also said he would send me an email telling me EXACTLY what was happening. Having received nothing other than a standard format email informing me of my request for reimbursement. I presumed this was for the delivery cost but called none the less to see what the hell was going on at 4pm after 30 minutes on hold I got through. My order was not being dispatched Wednesday, I was annoyed and so asked whether he could guarantee my order would be dispatched Thursday, he could not. I told him he was putting me in a very difficult position and that i needed it for work, which is true, he said i should probably leave it another day and see what happens.

At this point I told him that it simply wasn't good enough and that he should cancel my order and reimburse be as and i told him this! I was going to buy the items elsewhere having already found a similarly priced offering. I also told him I wanted to be emailed conformation of the cancellation. I then ordered the products from another company, they are coming tomorrow.

So that brings me to today After getting home from uni I checked my email, just a confirmation of my reimbursement for delivery cost. I used the contact us form on their website to inquire about my order cancellation, as the order tracking said my item was being prepared for dispatch!! LOL i thought, their computer really has gone loopy now, having never shown the correct status to my knowledge. Now I’ve just checked 10 mins ago and what do I see, my order has been dispatched via parcelforce 24hr service, I’ve got the tracking number and everything. To cap it all the buzzer on our flat doesn't work so the office of my building may sign for the packages I receive tomorrow including the duplicate camera  This just gets more and more complicated, they have caused me endless stress at a time when I am working hard, not to mention about £15 of phone credit within a week.

Congrats if you read all that, just avoid at all costs IMO if you don't want to risk this happening to you!! Got to laugh really otherwise I’d bloody cry. Getting up early (for a student) to sort all this tomorrow hopefully.

Ordering stuff online can be so frustrating sometimes. Hope the situation resolves itself :|

 i'm wondering myself that, the money/ time this has cost me has probably wiped out the cost saving by now  But also i needed other stuff for a product design focus group, that can only really be bought online, hence I was ordering these products at the same time bringing down the costs. Anyway i've never had any real problems that i remember ordering online before now and being a n00b at camera's i didn't really want to trust what some spotty oik at comet etc say, don't know any specialist shops here but wish i had researched them instead :bah: live and learn i guess

k, I see. Just asking because around here now several stores have "internet prices": basucally they check the net on a regular basis, like the 20 biggest online stores (swiss), and then they set they prices to be as cheap at the cheapest ones :D

well some of the big chain stores here have the cheek to have online prices about £25 cheaper than instore! pretty sure it's not like that here but maybe i am just looking in the wrong places!

That sucks.... especially when its so difficult to get anybody real to talk to

Thought about ordering from these guys before, but decided not to... shipping from another country, not sure whether product will be european or UK spec (i read an iPod review from a guy there saying he had got a euro ipod and a euro charger etc...) PITA to sort out IMO, much safer to buy from a place closer to home

You couldn't have predicted this though... most sites look great, great testimonials etc... and you'd have thought if they were that shit, that they would have been out of business by now

BTW Could have tried Jessops AL  .... they tend to be overpriced, but staff on commision (i am told) will do all sorts to wanle a sale, including free stuff (mem cards, cases, bateries etc...) to a plain %age discount on the item

actually my phone from them had french instructions and plug  , but well that was my fault for not reading properly on that occasion. Not a problem as i have a plug adaptor for my razor anyway and the phone itself is straightforward :D

Well spoke to the tools today, apparently it was to late to cancel, would have been nice to have been told that  Parcel didn't even come today  Of course I got my stuff from the other companies just like they said, they are professionals though who keep to their word. Used another few quid of credit trying to get some sense out of pixmania, fairly obviously i have to refuse the package  and i've got a contact email of someone higher up to complain to, sent that off earlier asking for compensation. Should have come today but of course like everything else they seem to say it was a fucking lie, no way i'm waiting in another day for it :bah: Upshot= for the moment i'm £170 out of pocket for things i don't want.

Funny thing is just saying the name some of my mates said they sounded dodgy  Anyone who sees me gets their ear bent about the latest developments these days  to be fair though most ask because the whole saga is just to funny. Never thought i'd get burnt shopping online, can't be to careful i guess :bah:
Two quite angry emails sent so far, both asking for prompt refund and compensation. I'll most likely go to the press with it too, see if they are interested. Watchdog is on the tele at the moment for one thing

Doubt i can do anything against them legally, but might drop into the free legal advice clinic at uni none the less next week. Cocks deserve to be fucked over if at all possible. Bastards are leaving me without a huge amount of cash to pay my next installment of fees, might have to raid the savings! I've already been told it might take a while for refund :bah:

Their only shop is just at the end of my road in fulham, so thats where i got my camera, which they had in stock. So i was a lucky git and got the discount with none of the shite, they did look pretty damn amateur though!

LOL amateur isn't the word. God help them if i lived down the road from them, atleast i'd get to speak to someone though :bah: . I ask to be called rather than be sent a crap reply in crap english via email and they never do and its always from an annoying email address i can't reply to so i have to send it again to the women who keeps getting her assistant to write crap emails. I'm calling bullshit on them saying it was to late to cancel 9even though i wasn't told this). It was apparently sent thursday via parcelforce 24hr service, here we are monday evening still no sign and the parcelforce tracking service can't find anything.

Gonna call parcelforce tommorrow see if i can get through to anything other than a robot. Given pixmania till 5pm tomorrow to contact me then the plan is to set up a site to collect evidence to send to watchdog, trading standards etc, fair few people alreadt complained to both already. According to one person they are moving warehouse which is causing loads of problems, other people have had the same treatment or worse than me. I'm being much more careful in future thats for sure!!

Dear Alan,

Thank you for your email.
<>We are checking with the warehouse and with Parcel Force to find out where your parce is, Once we have a reply from them we will contact you with further details.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

Team Pixmania

What kind of company is this, crap at spelling and they have no bloody clue where on earth the package I don't even want Is. Spoke to parcelforce Wednesday who said it isn't even in the UK and will not show tracking details until it is unsurprisingly, so this package supposedly dispatched 8 days ago is still in France somewhere presumably, as is my money. My bet is its still in the warehouse or they don't have any stock anyway

Sorry to bump this, but it seems they have decided they lost the camera I didn't want somwhere in france. So now finally it seems i will be getting my money back :D :D. Nearest thing to compensation they have offered is £10 off my next order though  not likely! Still atleast i'm getting most of what I have spent back. Ah well live an learn I guess!
