you fucking tool..
copying the basic html layout from another site is well, not exactly professional although many people do it when starting out, but to have it look exactly the same is just taking the piss and I know TT never said it was ok for you to do that..
while TT is too nice to say it publicly I aint, you sir are a buttfucking cockmaster of the highest order, and you better start changing it now or just plain take the site offline, as copying the site idea, name, layout and style all together is just 1 step too far
how about this, you want a site of your own, MAKE A FUCKING EFFORT and learn some html, don't steal everyone elses work without making any attempt to hide the fact
@dani - yeah even with 130% tax.. but that just makes you think..
and i'm with dan.. get your own website layout.. or dont run the web untill you do.. :?

heheh well I know they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery and all that but this is a bit extreme, JW has had it's copiers for sure but atleast they didn't just 100% copy the format TT spent alot of time creating. Its good to see he (and other mad car spotters) have started a bit of a craze but please do try and bring something new to the setup.
wha.. i hate them 1 post making joined today members..

sure its flattering to some degree that people think TT has such a great idea for site, but to totally copy it, and keep exactly the same look against TT's wishes is just a step too far IMO...
lets take dingo's site http://www.ozcarsightings.com as an example of what might have been acceptable, yes he used TT's site as a base with permission, but he had the sense to change the layout a little, and change the colors so it does look different, and perhaps most importantly he is a decent guy and even mentions TT on his homepage acknowledging his help
not huge differences but enough to differentiate between doing things the right way and being a douche
yeah.. the only prob i have with dingo's GREAT site.. is the GREEN! lol  you got the hard part.. the content.. but could work a bit on the design.. mainly getting rid of that eye hurting green

I was considering changing it, but couldn't be bothered lately.
Oh and it is the national colour of Australia (with gold/yellow), so it has a purpose.
yeah websites take more work then it seems does it..
 and maybe just darker then ;)

How about just using different fonts, colours, layout and such. I mean even your banner is identical nearly, with the "Welcome" text and your countries flag.
Also I noticed in your forum you just copy and pasted TT's "picture editing tutorial" - thats just rude really (as I'm sure TT wasn't asked)
lol.. why dont you write off microsofts name off copys of windows and sell it under your name

So if I go re-publish some authors book under my name but give him credit at the end (without consulting him) it would be ok?

Looks like everybody here was aware of that little story ... that guy also joined another board just to send a few PM's about ICS' forum (even to me, as one of the admins, he really doesn't know where to stop); well there were no consequences, we don't have any ninja admin there ( )
Now I just noticed that he "copied" the encylopedia idea from there (hopefully not the full articles - they're in french, the only thing that prevented him from copying them I guess)

I couldn't believe that TT had let someone rip his site off like that...but I thought it was his business so I wasn't going to say anything. I bet you're right though...he has tried to help this clown get started...and in return..the clown has just copied everything 100 %.
If it was me and JW...I would be mad as hell about it....thats why I am pleased with have Dan making things that others would find very hard to copy.
Maybe TT can let us know what the score is in case it would be better to remove the link to the copy cats site.

making my own car sightnings website is something i dont take too lightly; and i wouldn't even think of copying TT's format, or Dingos format... they are both very very good, and easy to browse.
ive got a few ideas i think are really good floating around that im trying to learn the coding for. and ive recieved some help from both TT and Dingo in some basic questions; but stealing the entire format? that is just lame. i wont bring up my own site until 2 things happy, the format is complete, and i can pay for the BW/domain.
:good: the only way to go nthfinity!

I didn't even want to reply in this topic to avoid any useless conversation which would probably take us nowhere, but I think it is fair to give my 0.02 cents.
I don't want to flame Aviv even more, I think he got his fix for today and thanks to everybody for raising their voices against him! The JW family will always amaze me!
As you already understood probably, some months ago I indeed tried to help Aviv when he wanted to start his own website, why not afterall. He was asking how to create a website like mine, and the easiest answer I could think of was to suggest to check out my own code (which is dead easy and simply ok, but totally handwritten by me), and use it as a base to work on his own website. Fair enough! I really had no time to create a new design from scratch and as you all know, kinda noob when it comes to PC stuff and such. I already gave my best effort in designing SCS from scratch!
I would like also to point out that for me everything started thanks to salegosse and his own www.supercarfrance.com! I know he wasn't the one inventing the "car singhting" stuff, but as far as I am concerned, he was the first that took it on the net in such a big scale, with a brillant website packed with superb pics! Thumbs up to him please :good:
When I decided it was time to open my own website, my first concern was NOT TO copy his ideas! And this goes both for url and design. That's why I created it from nothing, in pure and simply HTML, and I didn't buy supercarswitzerland.com, but supercarsightings, which is a bit different, admit it.
Now, I don't want to say I am better than Aviv or whatever, but well, it is just to point out that what crossed my mind in 2004, could have crossed his some months ago.
Call it lazyness, call it beeing mean, he just copied my code and pasted his own stuff in it. He bought a similar website name, he created a similar looking logo, banner and so on.
I don't want to say I was offended at first. As somebody said, to be taken as an exemple is flattering to a certain extend.
Still, something wasn't right.. our websites are not affiliated and it was just weird for somebody discovering them (take also note that nowhere on his website is stated that he copied my code, which could be maybe even considered copyrighted afterall).. two identical sites.. must be the same guy behind them.. well nope :bah:
I asked him more than once to change something, no matter what, to make his website different! Maybe better even since I am sure there is room for improvement, but no, everything is still exactly the same, from colors to thumbs size, everything :bah:
The answer from him was always something like: "please contact me in MSN so you can tell me what to change and how".
The JW members that chat with me via MSN know very well I can be found online many hours a day, always willing to chit chat a bit if not busy or out of home for a while. he always said I was invisible, could be a glitch, as said, noob I am, but we could talk via email quite easily, still after various tries, nothing moved and now Aviv you are here advertising your website in what I consider my home. Sorry, I begin to be kinda fed up honestly! In this topic again you asked ppl for ideas and such! Shit dude, if I could do it, even a paralyzed baboon could!
Honestly, I am not interested in wasting more time in trying to force you to change something, but just to let you know, there is something called DMCA (http://www.eff.org/IP/DMCA/), and if I would really like to be mean I could send a couple of lines to your provider and ask them to do something about this. I don't want to go that far, it's not my nature to be that bastard, but you had plenty of time to do something about it, and instead of this, last time you asked me to add your website to my links page, or did I dream? I was even contacted by a friend of yours asking the same thing.
I hope this topic will make you finally move your ass and do something
sorry for the rant guys ;)

Really sad story ! I can well understand your reaction TT since I am at the moment reworking my web page and realise how difficult it is to create something from scratch and which looks different from all the other web pages.
I agree that, even when taking your code as a basis, a minimum of things should have been changed, just by respect to the guy who wrote that code...
