Click on Add me, then enter your name and city or postcode / zipcode. If you type in a city, give it a second to come up with the different options (i.e. type in London and you have to choose between London, UK or London, Ontario....)

It would be nice to see how the JW members are spread around the world :D

The coding of Google Maps is free to use for non-commercial sites, so it should be possible to embedd this in JW.

LOL, it only recognises Amsterdam...that sucks.

Killer, hope this one works better then the one implemented on JW which keeps losing data every so often.

that was just a shitty bravenet one that was linked, and I persuaded Jabba we should dump it because it was crap.. ofcourse with the promise I would look for something better we could integrate 100%

Thats a good bit of kit. Its also intresting seeing where everyone is in the world. Jw really is a global group aint it.

I think we missed something important here...

while its good that people have idea's for things to make JW better (and of course we appreciate it when they do :)), its really not on for just anyone to go off and make something with the JW name on without even asking the site admins, especially when its hosted on some other site that we have no control over...

it's been discussed back channel and we're in agreement that it must remain up to the admins to decide what features are added to the site, and how / when that happens, so in future if anyone has a similar idea to this it would be best to PM one of us about it first before doing anything about it :)

Are you kidding? I thought it would be a nice idea to see where people are from. I didnt call it the official JW members map or anything... It's not even listed on the Frapper directory...

micky21
10-18-2005, 11:24 AM
am I kidding.. no I'm not, perhaps you should consider this, until yesterday we had our own official member map - thats now been taken down to make way for something better, and also the fact that anyone googling jabbasworld will find your map whether its listed on their directory or not, and of course that reflects on JW as people will think its official

anyway as I already said in this topic I quite like it, and now I know that its possible to incorporate google maps into other sites its the perfect solution for our future plans, so thanks for the idea ;)

crayzayjay, I am sure you had good intentions and indeed it seems that you have found something that will be a great help to JW so thanks for that. Sadly though we cant have everyone going off and doing their own thing especially when an official version of what you found did/will exist on JW.

Thanks again and please don't take any personal offence at our comments.

None taken. Didn't realise there was something in the works. I can give you the password should you wish to edit or remove the list at any time :)

It was just a bit weird how we killed our own member map yesterday and Dan had begun work on something alot better...probably just a co-incidence I guess...anyway I am sure what you found will give us some great ideas for making an official integrated version.

It don't accept NON-US zipcodes, you must click "Not in the US? Click HERE" link, below the zip code field APL. Then type your city name, Brasilia in your case ...

done! its a pretty cool system, if there wasnt the pesky privacy issue, we could be as specific as what our addresses are! Pretty detailed thing, its just like that google map but with the member twist! :D
