I am looking at buying a 98' A4 and I am wondering what kind of suggestions some of you might have towards performance upgrades for it. I have been looking around and I have found some interesting options.
This turbo kit seems pretty interesting, it seems to have a pretty good dyno test on it, i.e. nice flat torque curve.

APR also apparently has some pretty good setups:

but I was wondering how close these price figures would be to what I would actually have to pay. What other upgrades would I likely require and what kind of labor costs can I expect to pay for.
I was also wondering if any of you have any suggestions on other performance options available to me.

thats what I was thinking, there are surprisingly very few options available for the 2.8 unfortunately.

I would say I have about a 5000 - 7500 dollar budget. I will be using it as a daily driver but from time to time I will hopefully go to the track (although in calgary its very tough to get track times) I don't plan on getting 500+hp out of this thing but I definitely want something rough. 300 would be a good target I would say.

Don't forget the brakes and suspension upgrades that prolly required after such a massive up in power.

any suggestions of good quality suspension and big brake kits for a reasonable price?

^ Yeah, usually went I mod cars, I always go after Suspension then brakes then HP.
But damn, with a simple chip you could reach 200+ w/ that tiny 1.8L engine? That is pretty impressive. Maybe next year I might have to look into one of these cars :) .

Just letting you know that every chip tuner has their own way of making chips. O.CT chips are smoother in torque curves making it better for highway passing and even smooth acceleration. Compare to something like GIAC, which is tuned very aggressive. The peak torque comes at a higher rpm, which makes it feel like a rocket, but sacrifice with smoothness. Also, remember O.CT is an Austrian base company in Europe and most likely is TUV certified although i maybe wrong. Never forget...this quote "If you plan to play be prepare to pay!"
If you get chip, you might also want to upgrade your diverter valve to a stronger one. Apparently Stratmosphere does carry their own diverter valves, Forge carries it, etc.
Brakes wise...since you got a B5 A4, you can upgrade to A8 carriers or something like that. If you want more, you might want to look at Stoptechs or www.bira.org for boxster calipers with custom brackets.
Mmmm oh well let me know if you have any questions!
