amazing, what a shame! Though the Porsche was really good that time, I can't imagine that was the only reason. Maybe they were too busy grabbing the F1-title and set their hopes on that.
How about the F40-GT & F50-GT on the track at the same time - with Video (it is somewhere on the website - I know I grabbed it a couple years ago).

Cool story of the guy racing in a F355 and chasing the F40 and F50! He was as happy as a baby. Dancing with a legend as he said it was. Nice to see so much enthusiasm for cars!
BTW the vids are at the bottom of the page.....the sound is awesome!
I also have a vid where a guy in a M3 roadster chases a F40 GT and a normal F50 at thunderhill track. Not really spectaculair, but anyone interested?

the information in this web site isn't accurate. for accurate information go here:

also, the real reason why the F50 GT didn't see any competition is because the BPR series (in which it was meant to race) was ended before development of the F50 GT was completed, therefore the project was cancelled.

the BPR was a production based racing series, something like fia gt now.
as for 001, it was crashed earlier this year, but Zafurios wasn't driving it. he let a pro racing driver drive it a Ferrari event. the tires were cold and the driver (don't remember who) lost control on a section of the track where the surface is changing and loosing traction.
I saw pics of it after the crash, and it wasn't a pretty sight. at least it's being rebuilt now as you said.

Also, the writers of Forza magazine asked the President of Ferrari, why they did not choose to pursue GT type road racing, since a lot of their heritage stems from that. And at the time, he said that they were spending a lot of R/D time and manpower pursuing the F1 championship (This was around 1997) and they could not afford to do both types of racing.

The F50 GT was featured in Cavallino or Ferrari World too, a couple of years ago. I think it was the same car as the one in the video because it took place in the US. It made a huge impression on me at the time. I think that article still affects my thoughts on that car.
