John Travolta and Kelly Preston have apparently advised Katie Holmes on how to have her baby.

The couple, who like Holmes' fiance Tom Cruise are members of the 'cult' church of Scientology, have suggested that the Dawson's Creek actress have a 'silent birth', meaning that the child comes into the world without music, background sounds or expressions of pain from the mother.

Theoretically, this method should ensure that the baby can adapt to its surroundings without a fuss.

IMDb.com quote Preston as saying: "It's just because everything in moments of pain is really recorded and you want to have that (the birth) peaceful and clear of sort of suggestions or different words that can then affect them (babies) in their future."


This did make me laugh given they are also generally against drugs AFAIK, one of the most painful things that can happen to a human and she has to stay silent :lol: , why don't they just get it over with and chuck cruise and his mates in the looney bin :P

sure its disturbing.. and very retarded.. babies have been brought into the world this way for thousands of years, I'm sure nature has come up with many ways of protecting them from any 'trauma' caused by the birth

I was present for the birth of our daughter and my wife held my hand so tigth at one moment, my finger alsmots broke and turned an odd purple colour ;)

A delivering woman is pretty strong and angry at about the moment that watermelon sized object rips it's way out into the light... :P

i only rent movies(making them less money:P) iv only went to one sporting event(i didnt pay), and iv NEVER been to a music concert:P
