I spent the last weekend in St.Moritz, approaching the village at night, I saw some cars placed in the garden of the Kempinsky hotel...

Saturday I went there to have a closer look...

But Sunday, it started snowing like hell  and at the end of the day, the pass was only open to cars with chains - I had summer tyres on my car and we ended up taking the train to Zürich :?

Why do they care about his S-Class, when he has a 288GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, XJ220, 959 etc etc... :P

Snow in St. Moritz?? damn! we're 25ºC here!! :P

... back on topic - nice event! I like those Mercs with a story behind :D The one with 1'640'565km... that was before starting to use electronic gadgets everywhere  I guess that the current S-Klasse can't last more than 300000 without a BIG and serious mechanical malfunction :D

The night shots are great BTW!

It's not a big surprise to have snow in October (and usually it goes away quick on the roads, but along the mountains this could mean the start of teh winter), but I was not prepared to it

Nice pics, the Kempinsky is a nice location ;)

Interesting way to present the new S which will sell a lot in St.Moritz (hotel's shuttles, taxis...) :D but interesting also to see that nobody seems to pay attention to it LMAO, or you were just lucky/skilled and managed to have 100% of pics with nobody on them? :D

I got the area cleared by security staff :D j/k

in October, ther are not many people/touristes in StM on one side (I think the Kempinsky is the only 5*hotel which is open at the moment .... and the few ones around (5 max.) where easy to avoid

as I understood, the MB crew is there for about 2-3 weeks and the hotel guest are probabely free to do a test drive with the new models
and also they will promote the cars via the local cardealers (as taxi,...), a social event with customers, etc. or similar

Those nice shots are great :D But it's even more amusing to see the same line up in three different weahter conditions: day, night and snow. Impressive S line up, except the ones near the end.

btw, wasn't there a new S class?

St Moritzer, the presentation was there for more than a week - I was there on thursday, when the weather was quite OK. S500 and S600 on that twisting road down to Como is really fun ...

No, didn't take any photos, although there are a lot of official press photos on the CD-s I got.
The event was official press launch oif the new S class - that means that for approx 2 weeks groups of car journalist from europe (US and Asie usually get their own presentations) came to MIlano, drove over San Bernardino (either pass or the tunnel) to St. Moritz, had press conference and technical presentation there, spent the night and next mornig drove back to Milano via Como. Ususally there'd be about 20 new S class cars at the Kempinski every evening, mostly 350 nad 500 but some 600 V12s too ...

Did you like the Kempinsky hotel?

That's one of the things I most envy about motor journalists - the official presentations, especially if they take place in nice sceneries like this hotel in Sant Moritz :P

yes, indeed

Actrually, the only thing I know about hotel is that it's a Kempinski and it has quite big rooms. Left home 9 in the morning Got to milano (by car and plane) around 13.00, drove from milano around 14.00, got to St-. Moritz around 18.30 (one half hour break while driving to change cars and get a cofee), too a quick shower, presentation/dinner at 19.30, went to bed around midnight, got up at 7, was in the car by 8, near Como at 10.30, quick lunch, to airport, home by 17.00, article written that evening, normal work nex day ... Yes, it's fun, but not week after week after ...

Dani: well, you can feel 2 tons but 388 HP (500) or 511 (600) mahes sure that it accelerates fast + you can help the steering with right foot, especially in 600. So it's fun if youl like it sideways ...
