Can you imagine your own cat or dog having a fishing hook shoved through their nose and been dumped in the water and being used as live shark bait?

Well this is what the fisherman on the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean are doing and i think it's bang out of order. So PLEASE take 10 seconds to complete this petition by the RSPCA to help stop this!!!

well worth the time as far as i'm concerned, ok we may eat animals but we don't have some god given right to treat them like this, it shouldn't matter what animal it is

Count me in. That's so cruel it's ubnbelievable. Not only is the dog in tremendous pain after having a hook inserting into his mouth but it has no chance of fighting back :(

This is obviously cruel, but does anyone know what they are doing to the sharks once they bite the bait whether it be a dog or other fish?
Hhhmmm - rather eye opening... but coming from a country with lots of sharks along the coast... and shark fishermen, I am just saying it makes no sense why they would use live dogs as bait for sharkfishing.
Just tip some cow blood and fish-chum in the water, and drop a few fish baited hooks - and catch sharks all day long.
Besides that fact, in order to actually hook the attacking shark, it would need to swallow the dog whole, and the size of shark that will swallow a large labrador, is not exacty going to go down withut a huge 18 hour fight... and again, you could the same large shark close enough to the boat to harpoon with blood and chum.
It seems like a worthy cause, but a little far fetched and odd as a "shark baiting" scheme.
Just being realistic.

Id say its a hoax.. Snopes says there some truth but the picture may be doctored.. That its probably more likely to be dead dogs. http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/sharkbait.asp

I hate ppl who pull shit like this, if they want shark bate, why dont they just stick a hook thru there little brother or mother or soemthing, instead of harming innocent animals.

This sounds fake. Why would they waste a good dog? I'm sure there's cheaper and more abundant bait around.

I very much doubt that the RSPCA (a well respected charity in the UK) would risk their entire reputation on a 'fake' story! If they were found to be using (have used) fake stories to drum up support they would lose half their income over night!
The picture on the other hand is a different story. Personally I hope it is a fake. If the RSPCA did not have one to hand, I doubt that they would do that to a dog lol. :P
