Exciting project reveiled a couple of days ago. Some hot entrepeneur over here in Belgium bought a Carrera GT and is going to change it into a fullblood racecar. It's going to take some time ofcourse because nothing really excist specifically for the CGT and they won't get support from Porsche.

Yesterday i was in Spa-Francorchamps and i saw the car because they are going to explore it's capabilities in a national Belcar-race. Everything is standard at the moment so that will be interesting.

In the future they will decide in which championship they will compete when the car is finished, possibilities are: Le Mans, LMES, FIA GT and Belcar.

here some pictunes of the car

Can be interesting, but I would wait to see what they do with it before turning too enthusiatic :| I doubt this car was made to be tuned.

But PLEASE: choose the big rear wing in the pictures :D

I doubt this car was made to be tuned.

???
well, as st-a says, its perfect...

but also, it started life as a Le Mans project; i dont doubt that they could be fairly competitive with the car

Interesting idea and I'd like to see the results... but I doubt whether this will be a success to be honest.

could be nice idea and if they'll be succesfull, they won't stay just by one CGT :D

hopefully they'll have enough of everything to finish their plan....

any "live" pics?

yeah this is interesting to say the least.

i'm sure there are alot of body parts and engine/tranmision components that can be swapped out for more precise, lighter and less durable parts.

i'm curious as to what was done to the car in order to lighten and stiffen it?

Marc Duez? He's a good driver as far as I remember. Also compete in rallyes.

And about the car, looks like a VERY interesting project. I'd like to see pics of the car once it's finished... although I guess it will only be that: a supercar with stickers... If there was official factory support, or the team was Prodrive, then I would expect something FAST... but let me doubt it will be competitive.

I hope I'm wrong... :D
OMG, if prodrive was involved :!:

there are a few other groups who could it fantastic too... Holbert Racing here in the states would be able to do it, or recomend the best available to do it... but based on the pictures, the CGT looks just sticker-fied

Some Magazine at Barns & N. had an article where they raced a track prepaired GT3 RSR and a Carrera GT in street form and the GT3 RSR won by a hair. The Carrera GT is one of my favorite cars. They said with track tires it may have beaten the RSR.

On the street or in war paint, the C GT is one fine ride.

Well it would be great to see, but i'm really interested in the possibilty of a wide-body on the car and the sound it makes. Hopefully it'll be the MC12, but that won't be so hard.

Superb. Damn I wish it was GLPK that had bought this car because I have a friend in the team.

That's how I got the Zonda race car pics a while back.

Anyway, the CGT is the perfect start for a race car! I hope they'll take it to Le Mans and slap the MC12 ass big time!!

finally a very small update, it involves a small video of the car still under contruction

summary of the video
- it's taken a while to build all the parts them selves because Porsche Motorsport does not support the project in any way
- major changes for the car: brakes, engine and suspension
- first test schedueld for dubai
- for endurance racing mostly

http://pitstoptv.blogspot.com/

can't give you the direct link so here's what you do
- after the player is loaded just click on the 'VAIRA' tab, it is not shown at first so you have to click the red arrow to see the other tabs
- in the new window you will find the carrera gt video

Hello everyone, I am new in this forum. I live only 15 km away from the Porsche factory in Stuttgart Zuffenhausen. I visited the new Porsche museum three weeks ago and made this photo of the CGT that is shown there:
