There was a contest of Renault Worldseries in Portugal, because next weekend the Worldseries is here at Estoril. We had to invite friends and answer a few questions.

I invited everyone I knew, and answered all questions right (google is our friend), and today a woman called saying that I had won the first prize, that was a ride with the portuguese pilot Cesar Campaniço in a 2 seater Formula 3.

Anyone knows the acceleration specs for this baby?

It should be a lot faster than a Enzo, or a CGT, no?

It has less power than an Enzo (450hp), but it only weighs 600kg.

That gives a pretty impressive 1.3 kg/hp power to weight ratio! :D

The vid, I supose that they won't allow it... but, has we say in Portugal, I don't loose nothing in throwing the clay against the wall to see if it sticks! :D

Well, yesterday I got there at Estoril, and everything was going ok, until a guy from the organization tells me that I wouldn't have my ride in the F3.5!! :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock:

The guy told me that the girl that phoned me was mistaken, because that wasn't the first prize.

I got VERY VERY VERY pissed off....

I then asked which car was I suposed to go in, and it seems than my prize was a ride with Pedro Matos Chaves, a Portuguese pilot of the official Renault rally team, that has a very impressive career. (was an f1 driver, was f3000 champion, won a few races in Formula Indy lights, was Portuguese rally champion, Spain GT champion, within a lot of other victories... has you see an impressive driver.

So, my prize was a ride with him, in is Rally Clio S1600 car. :D

Yes, I was a bit disapointed it was only one lap, but it was the same for everybody... even the VIPs


Although I wasn't the F3.5 ride I was expecting, the car goes very very well for a 1.6 (220hp), but the most impressive is the lateral acceleration, the car grips like a train on tracks, and the braking power!! It's a very very agile car!

That's dissapoiting, expecting a ride in a Formula 3.5 and 'only' getting a ride in a Clio Super 1600. But well at least you got a ride and it prolly was a fast lap :D

I don't know if you can read in portuguese, so I'll give you a hand:

Power: 220 Hp at 8750 rpm
Torque: 200 Nm at 7750 rpm
Weight: 1000kg
Transmission: 6 speed sequencial with LSD

In the video you can see it on the inside straight of Estoril at top speed in 6th gear.
With the current gearing(it's a rally car), it only goes 180km/h, but hey.. it gets there in a BLAST!!

And has you can see in the pictures, the car has a wider track than yours.
In the Boxes, there was a Clio 2.0 Cup behind us and i never saw it again... :D

On the speedo or real?

I have a friend of mine that has a road Clio RS that on the speedo goes to 255km/h.

But it has some "little" engine tweaks! :D

The Clio is really an amazing pocket rocket!!! 231 km/h, real, at the end of the straight... is very good.

Even here in Estoril, you can see by the lap times that the Clio would give lots of "work" to bigger machines if they were put at the same time on the track!!

Just another thing.. I've been watching the photos, and those headlights on the Clio S1600 seem a bit strange. They are not the same has the road Clio, they seem to be the headlights of a Yaris! :D
