A West Yorkshire hospital has banned visitors from cooing at new-born babies over fears their human rights are being breached

why do they actually let visitors in the same room as the babies there (with regards to the infection worries in that article)?
i was under the impression that hospitals have all the new-borns in one room, and visitors can only peer through a window at them. maybe it's different in the UK?

pretty funny that they banned this, though, maybe the babies are becoming self-conscious already...

Boehoe, infections are bs and an excuse for the real problem, baby mixups & kidnapping.

A baby is naturally protected for about 6 months because of the anti-genes it got from the mother.

But I somewhat agree that only close family should be allowed. The rest should wait a few days until the mother is at home again.

yeah baby mixups...that happens a lot

and while it is true that a baby is immunized for about 6 months IF the mother got all her shots, and is breatfeeding, as that is the actual reason. Immune systems aren't fully developed anyway, so why take needless chances?

edit: and just so you know infection is one of the leading causes of infant mortality
