REVIEW: This guy from Top Gear (I don't know his name) drives the Countach, and absolutely dislikes, altough it was the car of his dreams when he was a kid.
The New Stig takes the Murcielago for a spin around the Lotus track and it turns out the ol' Murcielago is not so slow after all. I won't tell you how fast it is, because
I'm sure you all want to find out for yourselves. This vid is very good, and it's worth the download.

I'm downloading the video so...

How did the new Stig managed to get a faster lap than the old one Stig?
Is this Murciélago any different from the other one tested?
Should they re-test the Zonda so they could have a fair comparo?

Dry track :D

No way, on the first season the track was dry... only a little bit wet, but not enough to make it 4 seconds slower.
I suppose the new Stig is just faster than Perry Macarthy (sp?).

It was little wet in corners and that can be a problem and yes, the new Stig really seems faster (if he really is another one)

This video was great, loved it!! the countach drive was cool but what blew me away was the Murcielago track time! beating the zonda even to be the fastest car they have tested so far.
I think they should test all the car that were tested in the wet to see what they can really do.
thanks for the vid jabba

I must saw the countach looks really good in that shade of blue, I've never seen it on one before. I heard countach arn't really fun cars to own but they do look stunning still. I hate to have to park that thing like Jeremy did all the time. Now they need to retest the zonda ss i think it was tested in wet conditions too. I think if i had to pick any lambo it would still be a diablo. They did have some nice camera shots of the countach which you don't see often because it's not new. Thanks to Jabba for putting this one up. :)

Very cool special on those Lambos.

The Countach, I never realized how horrible the car is. IF it truly id that bad the host explains it perfectly, keep it on a poster, the thing looks fabulous. LOL it was hilarious how JC explained how to park the Countach. They then go back into the Murcielago and restest it which then beats the ZONDA. Well both cars were tested in the same conditions so the Zonda is still faster. Id like to see how they reveiw the Diablo.

Thanks guys great video

Thanks Jabba !
Is it a dry track or a new Stig ?
They should test zonda one more time in the dry then.

I never understood why everybody was blown away by the Countach's styling, remembering them when they were new, they were still ugly in my eyes. But I guess one thing good came out of the Countach and it was this- the designers and engineers realized what they did wrong with the car, changed it; and improved upon the strengths, ie; the powerplant and basic body lines. Goodbye Lambo 1979, hello Lambo 21st Century.
Very good program all the same though. That Murcelago handled itself with aplomb on track. Thank you Jabba.

I like the Murcielago getting a better time, but is that a little favoritism? I mean a ton of cars have run in some pretty crappy conditions.

Apparently the first time they took the Murcielago out the conditions were especially odd, but what about the Zonda on the same day or a stripped out rear engined Porsche(GT3) going to out on a wet track?(not fun)

Also the cars probably don't react the same to wet conditions. The gallardo might only lose a couple seconds because of a wet lap where the GT3, CSL would probably lose a lot more because of their special setups.

And then when you add the new stig to the equation it is really hard to judge the performance of the cars.

Hehe, in a Lambo special all is allowed :D and it would have been strange to test the Zonda after all the other Lambos ;)

And don't forget this is Top Gear. Favouritism is part of the show!

Never was a big fan of the Countach, looked a little *too* 80s for me (whereas the F40/959 are quite special to look at). Still, amazing performance for the time really, and not much off a Diablo. Still, judging by the review, plagued with the ergonomic and technical problems of older Lambos.

Is it just me or is the new Stig setting better times on average? He admittedly had probably the cleanest lap I've seen on Top Gear with the Murc, but in general he seems to just feel faster. Maybe just good luck with the cars (GT3, CSL, Murc).

Ok, just watched the video.

I never really liked of the Countach looks - yes, it set the standard for the modern supercars, and inspired the Diablo design, but I don't know it always was too outlandish. But that blue Countach was gorgeous, apart from the interior.
I've always heard that the interior and visibility were awful, no surprise in this. Same for the clutch and gearbox, even on the early Diablos it was really hard to operate. The only surprise was the sound... God, that was nice.

Right, the Murciélago lap time. First of all: the new Stig is faster in my opnion. In the first episode, the Zonda and the Murcie were tested in the same track, with a little bit of water on the corners. Even then, under the same conditions, the Zonda was 4 seconds faster. If the new Stig test out the zonda, I'm pretty sure that he will improve that time.

Awesome episode, once again thanks for share the video Jabba!

I dont know if anybody said this already, but the Mirc set a very fast time SIMPLY because it was driven properly. Instead of sliding and fucking around, the new Stig drove a proper racing line without any showing off, and as you can see the result is pretty amazing. NOw they should redrive all the cars on that list properly and then that whole table will look completly different. The old and new stig make their driving look fast by horsing around, but thats not the case in the real world. Tidy, clean, perfect laps are the fast ones, not the rubber burning ones.

What about doing a Zonda dry lap ... i bet that would kill the murcielago , as well as the Koenigsegg or the Enzo
