It looks like there is going to be another fuel blockade in the UK on wednesday protesting at the high tax (nearly 80p a litre).

So who has been down and filled up their car even though it didnt need it? I normally let mine run down and then fill it up but i'll be topping the old chav wagon up on my way home tonight. My dad has filled his Mondeo up and two jerry cans!
Has anyone noticed long queues at the pumps already?
I just hope it doesnt go on for too long like that last one did :(
Well i filled my fiesta up last night, was searching all the stations around my tojust out of town, even spoke to my mate who was comin home from work and he was about 30 miles away from me and he said the same, the queues were mile long.
i went to tesco in my town, they were empty,2 shell garages, one was queues for about 2 miles, the other had run out and closed for the night.morrisons was a queue.2 texacos had queues,i filled up at the 3rd texaco in my area, they had no diesel when i went through,i filled my car up and about 6 cars after i filled up,that was the end of the petrol there.now, the time i filled up was 10:15pm.....and people were just waiting and waiting at the places that had fuel, which wasnt many.
it isnt lookin good.

I have just driven from Scotland to London; so petrol was a must even in a 1.9TDI golf! haha
My car is more of a luxuary to me; I commute into London for work which is the main thing. I have a food shop within walking distance so I am not going to panic if my car is grounded for a bit.
HOWEVER, I do feel for those who depend on petrol/diesl. Especially the haulage firms. I fully support any action regarding fuel prices.
Typically the EU has put it's nose where it is not wanted and said that any relaxation in tax is anti competitive. But there are ways around that.
Anyway, I need to rest!! I feel jittery...if that is even a word! lol

My work mate said his Tesco's had a huge queue at 1:30am which I wa surprised about! I'll have to ebay my dads jerry cans if it gets that bad ;)
My trip to Bristol in a couple of weeks best not get canceled!?!
I think taxi firms etc should get priority's along with the emergency services, nurse etc. I support it however i cant see it doing anything than causing the publics lifes to be hell for a few weeks. Gordon Brown won't care as he'll just blame the high price on the increase in oil prices :x

ITS NOT A CRISIS!!!!!
For fucks sake the only thing that is causing shortages is people panic buying, there are no plans for blockades that caused the trouble back in 2000, the police have more powers to deal with the blockades now anyway i believe. None the less the governement should take note and give us some money back from the extra VAT revenues they are getting. I sympathise with the protesters, but as far as i'm concerned the blockades are the only thing that may actually get the governement to take action. Last time i heard there were plans for the ports of dover and calais to be blocked by the british and french ( in sympathy). That may make them take notice, i doubt the french can be moved on..... the british i don't know law wise, but well the french just don't put up with the shit we do!
NB this does depend on believing what the protesters said this week, i.e. rolling blockades of motorways, none of refineries/ depots
^^^ your right AL it isnt a crisis, but people are making it out to be one which is making everyone panic buy,the only reason i was part of the queue last night was because i genuinely needed fuel,LOL but because of everyones actions from yesterday this has left my town with hardly any petrol or diesel, luckily i got a full tank now but it wont last that long, lol

exactly, i filled up monday purely because i knew it would be like it, monday morning 10am there was nobody about really. I have to drive to derby on sunday and i doubt the stocks will have recovered by then, purely because it'll be horded by everyone! personally i don't trust the protesters word, if they were going to break the law they wouldn't tell the press IMO. I can't find it now but after the 2000 protests new laws/ police powers were brought in to deal with blockades we saw in 2000, it may be that this has casued a change of tactics for the protesters, or it may be they aren't just being more stealth about it, can't see it being good PR for the goverment trying to move the protesters on by force

Huddersfield was'nt to bad yesterday, there was no queues at any petrol stations i pass on my delivery route. But I'm guessing it wont stay that way for long so I might go fill up.

a tad more worried after reading here, seems the guy who said that there would be no blockades isn't exactly in charge  nobody seems to be really, alot of interent wanna be anarchists here IMO http://www.lesstaxonfuel.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl
they shoudl just lower prices,im sure they will still make a fortune even if they just ower it to like 70p a litre or sumthin.thanks to all this panic as ive said, most of the stations here have run out.
i can fill my tank for £35 at these prices, lol i want to be able to fill it for £15-£20,lol

Aint that the truth! Its £35 for a full tank in mine when I feel it should be £20 tops. The thing is, if they drop the prices in fuel tax then where is the extra revenue going to come from? I'm all for an increase on tobaco as I dont smoke ;)

100p= one pound, UK average is now arounf 96/97p per litre, though i paid around 94 or 95 on monday in a small town with 2 stations. Fast approaching the £1 a litre mark and already is in some places for independant garages.

80p is like £0.80 about $1.50
Heard from the shell manager near my house that his petrol station definaly wont run out of fuel. But he also said the whole of bradford is out of fuel. So its hitting some places worse than others it seems.

I think this sums up the plight of the persecuted motorist in the UK, add onto this speeding fines and we are one big cash cow, no wonder the roads are a complete state along with public trasnport nationwide

how they hell they are gonna justify it in the future i don't know, but if we all switch to hydrogen fuel cell cars for day to day transport, emitting just water they'll still find ways to tax us like this  they can't afford not to. Personally i say we tax lentils at 600% to give the greens a taste of their own medicine :P

Persosnally i say we tax lentils to give the greens a taste of their own medicine Razz
LMAO! Sounds good to me :D
We are all out in our town now so I've been to the motorway service station to fill up as I only had 1/4 of a tank left and I'm on holiday in a weeks time so i'd like to have some for that!
my town is out pretty much, drove past a few stations 2nite,tesco seems to have got more as they were open, not as big of a queue though, most of the texaco were either shut or the bits they had left werent allowing the public to go in for it,had signs sayin "emergency services only"

Look atleast you peoples roads are nicer than those from state where I'm in, in the US. Our stupid roads are sooooooooo gay because they make them out of tarmac, I guess you can say it is , and instead of making them out of both cement and a light layer of tarmac ontop its all tarmac so its really fragile to like freight trucks and so on. Every other state takes care of their roads except Illinois. Its sooooooo gay. The roads break in like 1yr since we use tons and tons of salt when it snows and they don't use it lightly they pile that shit on real good!!! LOL!!!
Oh and the tollways are so expensive and they don't even fix those roads either, all money down the shitters. :bad-words:
i wouldn't put money on them being better, theres some cool stats about councils specnding more in compensation for damaged cars than on maintenance. Its pretty terrible TBH, though i would say some of the main motorways are pretty resonable.
