I am upgrading a few things on my computer gradually..
At the moment Monitor is the basic necessity as my existing monitor just blew up (well not literally, it needed an upgrade in anycase)..
Anyway, I just renovated my room and I do not even have a TV in my room anymore.. So I am hoping to buy a Monitor that can solve that purpose aswell.. But my main purpose is Computing..
I short listed a few 24 inch LCD monitors that are easily available here in India.. :

1. Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW (http://reviews.cnet.com/Dell_UltraSharp_2405FPW/4505-3174_7-31335738.html?tag=tab) (my main choice)

2. ViewSonic VP231wp (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/proseries/vp231wb/) (HDTV Ready)
http://www.viewsonic.com/images/products/vp231wb_us_eng_med.jpg
3. Samsung SyncMaster 243T
4. Sony PremierPro SDM-P234

Now I liked the Dell 2405FPW the best as it has increadible features, which others do-not have but it isnt HDTV ready, but the ViewSonic is..
Now we do-not have HDTV reception thru cable yet, but I would like to have the option open, basically for my console gaming needs (including next gen consoles).

Now there are a few questions I have.. I would be buying an external Tuner Card so I can watch TV, now are there any Tuners available that have HD-TV Recievers? As I am not that up-to-date these days with technology I dont know much about these things at the moment..
I am also going to Upgrade my graphic card / motherboard and the CPU within the next few months. I am saving for a XFX GeForce 7800GT (unless the new ATi cards are superiour and as cheap). Now in this cards features they write : Special Features = SLI Multi GPU Ready • HDTV Encoder • HDTV TV-out Support.. Now does this mean I do-not need an HDTV reciever or an HDTV ready monitor if I buy this card ?? Can someone please explain this to me??
I wouldnt mind suggestions if explained properly for my relatively layman-ish brains to understand :) ,

Thank you!

hdtv is from digital tv, so it doesn't exactly have to be from cable. also all monitors should be able to watch HDTV because HD basically means its in resolution of 1080p or 1080i. either one of those.

there are quite a few tuners with hdtv but that depends whether your country will accept the codes. for me i can't just get any type i want. i'm limited to what is available here. otherwise i would of got one overseas for better and cheaper brands.

if that card really has the encoder then no you don't need a tuner card at all. i'm assuming it has a port to plug your aerial in

sheruken have you bout your 2405FPW already? I'm thinking of having one shipped in from Singapore or HK depending on where it can be had for a cheaper price.

for those in Canada you can get the 2405FPW for $899 canadian

Go to the www.dell.ca site, then click on "home and home office", then click on the "holiday deals" flash animation and then on today's special (Dec 16th). You'll see a popup for the 20" screen - click on the popup and you'll get forwarded to a new page that also has a $400 coupon for the 2405FPW at the bottom of the page.
