Zo6 Paddle Shifters??

Dave hill said with the c5 he wanted paddle shift available. He requested a bunch of tech from other gm devisions. In the c5 he got the electronic shocks from the caddys. Heard this was a plan for a while now so no surprize.

The automatic version comes with paddle shift override.

What I don't know is whether or not this is a trad automatic with override or a sequential manual with automatic mode.
But I think it's an automatic with override because it's already being offered in the regular corvettes.

People have been talking about this in the corvette forums for some time now. As far as I know, It's just speculations and there's nothing official to back it up yet. I'll bet that the it will happen though. The only problem is that with GM engineering, it's probably going to be a really crappy attempt at a paddle shift. They only reason they'll do it is because it a trendy thing to have these days.

One of the best that I've seen so far is on the new Golf, so mayby if they follow their design they might have something.

Any REAL corvette driver would prefer the proper 6 speed shifter in the middle anyway. The only reason I can se for people to have a paddle shifter is so they can say "I have a paddle shift".

The proper shifter gives more control and a much better driving experience IMO.

oh, and the paddle shifter is quite true, but as far as i know, its not a sequential box... but it is a 5 speed. still the 'poofta' choice to go with tho

as long as it isn't that bullshit box found in the Grand Prix GTP that thing sucked ass. now if I bought an M3 I would have the SMG if it was a Z06 it would be the Manual why? I'm not sure but that's how I would have it I like the SMG boxes

The paddle is true - but not for the Z06 ;)

And considering they didn't switch to a quieter clutch setup because it would have sacrificed acceleration, I think we are safe that the Z06 is not going to get a poofta shifter setup any time soon... ;) :P

15+ years ago, Porsche was using thier SMG-style box (DPK) in thier racing cars so they could put them in thier production cars replacement for the torque converter automatics... we have yet to see this on any of thier production cars...

GM can do what Ford did with Aston Martin and have another company make the transmission and a decent one at that. Correct me if i'm wrong but i was under the assumption that BMW and Audi are the only car companies that make their sequential tranny's in house, not even Ferrari.

I knew those fucking Speed TV commentators are no good dumbass rednecks who dont know jack shite about anything. One of the blokes clearly said that the C6R had "paddle shift gearbox with paddles on the steering column" in one of the ALMS race coverages.

On SPEED's 30 min special on the Z06 they have a C6R going around road Atlanta, and in the cockpit view you can clearly see it is stick sequential, one of those tall ones right next to the steering wheel that move like 1.5" back to shift.

Yep - that Delrin C5R shift knob is a neat mod some people do to their cars. ;)
