What is the literall meaning of Major Tom? Is it pot?

well I am not 100%
but Major Tom is seen on 3 bowie albums (well really 2) and german tecno Peter Schilling has a song about him aswell.

could be about pot, or could be an anti-space song since the first album is based around the US moon landings :wink:

also Major Tom was a character that bowie played with acted out, so it could be an autio-bio of bowie (his problems with drugs) floating away from the earth, bowie falling out of society

I have a couple of his albums... but i don't listen to them that much. but it is somthing you have to experience,
and he was one of the most influential performers, and glam rock icon
