is the LS1 a 90 degree V8? or did chevy do something funky with it?

90 degree.. Normal in most respects.

edited: removed useless whine about the difference in bell house connections between the ls1 and lt1.

90 degree.. Normal in most respects, other then the funky bell housing (well at least as compared to what they use to use on the lt1s)
