I think the episode of Top Gear with the Enzo was that guy's car. It was in exchange for plugging his new book (at the time)...might be the book that the article is talking about, but I'm not sure. That fool flew to the track in his helicopter... and I guess transported the Enzo there in a carrier...

I thought Ferrari reqired owners to agree not to allow actual head-to-head testing of their car after they got it? Could be a fast way to get kicked off Ferrari's "preferred" list for invitation to purchase limited run cars huh?

^ where did you read those regulations? I thought you just had to promis not to resell or something.

I remember reading it when it first came out, but can't remember where. I read that Ferrari made buyers promise (maybe sign contracts?) not to loan their car to magazines to allow full tests on the car. I'm guessing because they don't want the tests to come up short or something, because testing conditions can cause variances in the final numbers...

I tried looking for the article online, but came up dry. I think I mis-spoke. I believe the restriction was against instrumented testing, i.e. no measured testing...but I couldn't find anything about that either. I just remember thinking that the restriction was interesting, but ultimately made sense...if Ferrari was just worried about conditions and inability to replicate the numbers quoted for the car...
