Anyone ever been on a blind date that went Well?????

So my friend johnnys girl hooked me up with this chick last sunday, we spoke on the phone several times before we met in person.

She sounded fantastic, we were both born on the same day Oct 18 1982, around the same time too, she wasnt born in the same part of the usa, but spent a part of her childhood in the town i was born in. Were both left handed . We had alot in common. She sounded intellegent, funny, interesting could hold a conversation over the telephone etc. Her friends all told me she is really hot like a model etc.

So monday rolls around we talk some more etc. Then tuesday were supposed to go out. We talk a bit more then I go to her place to get her. Some of the older guys might understand this but who knows, she was a stunner she looked like a supermodel, but and this is a big but. She had no personality. In person she was childish and juvenile. She was extremely timid, and on top of all of it she is deathly affraid of cars she wont drive she has to be driven everywhere. I can tolerate some things but there has to be some balance. I wont stay with a girl just cause shes pretty, I live in fla pretty women are a dime a dozen round here. I dont know just thought i would share my tale of woes.

It really sucks perhaps im too picky but it all seems to have come to a head lately. Im dissapointed with work and have been trying to get another job for a while now with no luck in the field that ive desired.

When im stressed like this my bad habbits tend to become more frequent. I enjoy expensive cigars, and I usually only have one every few months. I looked this morning and my stash is almost gone, ive smoked 280 bucks worth of fine cigars in three weeks. Not to mention my alcohol consumption has skyrocketed, my wine closet is down to three bottles and i have only one flask of crown royal left a few oz of remy and a small bottle of hennesy left. A few beers in the fridge i think. I could complain some more but it dosent do much good.

So I guess im asking does it get any better? I was hoping that someday i would find a good woman and mabey have some rug rats but I wonder. I mean most of my married friends just have tales of woe. I have only one or two people who tell me how much in love they are after many years. So does life really get worse from here? Sorry for being such a complainer I just cant seem to find any motivation lately.

I've only had one somewhat blind date and it went extremely well. It was the last serious g.f i had before the one i'm with now. My ex had given her my s/n on aim not long after we had broken up (lasted 3 weeks :lol: ) during my jr. year of high school. At the time it wasn't going to work beause both of us were hung up on someone else. almost a year later, the girl i had been hung up on started giving me the cold shoulder so i started talking to the other girl again. a moth after that we met up and went out to dinner. Ended up making out with her for about 3 hours after we got back to her place :lol: We ended up staying together for neary a year and a half until she couldn't deal with me living in Phoenix while her home life fell apart.

I kinda had a "blind date thing" going on the last couple months. I didn't thrust it in the beginning, though I would never meet a girl I like with a blind date. So I got her stalling for like about 2 months. We chatted a lot on msn and stuff, anyway one day I decided to give it a try.

I wanted to pick her up but on the last minute it turns out that my sister needed my moms car for her graduation. No problem she said, I'll come and pick you up. So she arrives at my house and I though: wow she's really really nice looking. Not like a photo model, but she's got something really cute and sexy. And the car she came to pick me up in was an CRX Del Sol. So that's all a pretty good start.

It turns out that she's quite a nice girl, talks a lot but I don't mind that, she seems to be sweat since she's really nice and encouraging. Anyway, I had a holiday planned with some friends and during that holiday I kept in touch. She started ignoring me a bit... she wasn't so nice anymore, didn't allways respond and stuff like that. The past couple weeks she's done the same thing, mixed with periodes of seeking contact and being really nice again. I don't know what the fuck is going on, tried to talk about it on the phone, by mail, by sms, ... but she never gave an explaination. She didn't want to meet again, only after her examns ( so in a week :? ) Got a bit mad at her but still she kept in touch

I only hear stuff about what she thinks about 'us' from the friend that introduced me to her and it's all pretty weird. I tried winning her over but by telephone and sms it's shitty so I'm close to giving up.

And I do kinda like this girl... that's not something that happens that often.

But why the fuck can't she communicate with me and do I have to hear everything from our mutual friends...

Guys..... blind dates and stuff like that will never work. There maybe the odd one out but 99.99% of the time it won't work.
The problem is that we watch movies about happy couples and happy endings but in real life this just doesn't happen.

If you are looking for a serious relationship the best thing to do is to...do nothing, relax.
The problem is that if u start looking desperately for a gf you start making a list of what your perfect girl should have, and you start ticking boxes and that’s the road to disaster.

I speak on my own experience.

As all of us, I had my 1st love (5y ago), we split up, took me and year to forget and since then I was swinging from trying to get a girl just for a week, to get a girl and marry. This was wrong, stupid and obviously it didn’t work
Last summer I went back home (Portugal) and was desperately looking for someone but I think girls spot when a guy is desperate because at that time we don’tt think straight, we try to hard and we are not ourselves.

So week before I was to come back to London I stopped, reflected, and asked myself “What the fuck I my doing??” “I must be going crazy or what??”

So after that day I decided to relax, be myself and time will fix things as always, with no panic, no rush.
2 weeks later, already in London I was in a bar with a work colleague and her room mate came around. At the time even though she was hot and pretty, I had no interest in her whatsoever. We started chatting and I ended up taking her phone number. 1 week later I had nothing to do at work and decided to text her, just to say hi. She replied, and them I replied, and then she replied and them I asked out for dinner in a very very informal way. A year has passed by and to be honest I don’t know if I wan’t to change. Of course we sometimes have our problems but at the end of the day we kiss and everything is perfect again.

So my advice is don’t panic and remember what the old people say:

Gray i never said she lived alone, infact the girl was kinda helpless she depends on mommy and daddy. The cold hard fact that she wont drive is kinda a turn off i like my women at least a little adventureous. I dont mind some things like i said so long as there is balance. Ive been living on my own for almost 5 years now. So the whole irresponsible depend on mommy and daddy thing is kinda a turn off im looking for a woman not a little girl.

Most of my friends dont care about personality or character they want em pretty and stupid. That dosent work for me at all, believe me ive tried. And I just cant stomach it for long.

I think i misrepresented what i was thinking, there are plenty of women who are living at home who are responsible enough to get a job and pay for there own expenses pay rent at home etc. Ive dated many, including some who have been on there own and not at home. I simply ment that she has no desire to get a job and that she is completely dependant on her folks, further more she is very very timid and adventurous is not in her vocabulary.

Well I've only had one semi-blind date. There was a girl I used to talk to a lot on msn, she was a friend of a friend. I talked to her a lot, and one day she asked to meet me. Now, I've never been one to have a sense of style, and she told me she wasn't hot. I had big, ungainly glasses back in the day (four years ago) and I've never been good with girls. We met up, and truth be told I had to try to make her look attractive, and it was awkward. After we left, she never talked to me again online, truth be told it was a bit discouraging.

Besides that, I've only gone on double dates, which are just as awkward for me because I don't get along well with other people; my girlfriend was the only girl I've ever really been able to talk with and be myself with. She went to college last week, and now I'm on my own again. gtx28, you're not alone with your troubles.
