My favorite was the Ram Jet 502. Ive been lucky enough to ride in a Camaro with a Ram Jet 502. It produces 526 hp and 577 tq at the flywheel. Keep the engine pics coming.

Ok I can't let this slip by without putting my 2 cents in...... Wanna see the baddest of the bad look at boats, they run WFO 90% of the time making max power.... something the imports just can't do. No arguing this point theres no way in hell a Toy or Honda could push a 60 foot off shore boat at speeds in excess of 150 mph ALL DAY LONG and do it for months and months before needing service :)

If Honda or Toyota could make money making engines like that they would probably be more reliable than the ones in there now and make the same power. Theres not a big enough market for them to make any money so they dont do it.

Krazy, offshore boat motors kick my ass!

How much do those damned things cost complete though?

When I was getting the pics I noticed several used Formula and Ciggerettes for sale 40 footers with triple 1200Hp supercharged Hawks were around $165,000 pretty fair price considering a 1200 Hawk Marine engine is about 60,000. A new 40 footer runs 500,000+

I got a sick idea lately. Drop this 632 Big Block my friend showed me in his Jegs catalog into our 21' searay. I think major hull reinforcements are in order if I did that (just ignore the fact the motor costs 16 grand and it's gonna take a while to make enough to buy it lol). That motor apparently puts out around 925 HP, and I forgot the torque number. 3 questions, is it possible, how hard would it be to get a beefed up drivetrain for it, and what kinda prop setup would I need. It's an I/O.

Also, do you know of any boat performance forums other than offshore ones?

It wouldn't be an offshore boat, but I still think a 21' searay with 925 HP would be fun as hell on the bay ;)

A 21' boat with almost 1000bhp is a death wish. You turn, it'll flip over!
It could be done, with a lot of work and money, but it would be almost undriveable.

Hell ya its possible and drivable YES dont listen to wats his name go for it LOL boats are a differnt animal. Sea Rays are very good hulls too no reinforceing needed unless you plan on off shore in big seas 8ft + at hi speeds. The only weak link is the drive. your gunna need a speed master 3 or bravo for that engine, especially if it has a OMC like i think it has..... OMC's suck (im a marine mech) If it has a bravo it will handle if you take it easy. no slamming reverse when going forward at speed to do tricks like I do lol you'll kill it quick like. My old 4 winns liberator had a 350 in it and I stuck a 502 in it and it was killer! it was 21 feet too went about 90 mph

Look at the links page at offshore.com for more places...

Wouldn't that much tourqe just yank the boat around Krazy? (I don't really have any experience with high powered boats)
A friends boat has a 115 on it and it's rated for a 90 max. When you turn with the power on, it tips way over. Just about flipping the boat. So I figured, shit load of power in a boat not designed for it would make it a beast to drive.

Nah thats natrual, all boats lean when they turn, well most do. I had a 15 foot Glastron rated for 55hp and stuck a 200hp merc black max on it to ski with and it leaned over so far the gunnel would be below the surface of the water, but since the boat was movin faster than the water it wouldnt sink. Just like if you move yer hand thru the water like a paddle fast the back side will be dry. That merc eventually ripped the transom off the lil glastron LooL luckily it did it right in front of the ski club, about ten feet from the edge of the island. We just dragged it to shore before it went down completely and my friend went to the marina boat store and bought a bunch of air mattresses and we tied them to my boat and floated it over to the mianland LOL!!! The ski clubhouse was on a manmade island about a half mile offshore to block the wind for smooth water to ski on : )

Yeah, unfortunately I don't know much about boat drivetrains, although I'm going to school to be working on huge ass freighter motors. I just thought it would be a fun little project ;)

My friend sboat actually tips over far enough for water to come in the boat. It's a damn scarey ride if someone wants to be an ass!

Martin's latest evolution of his legendary Reyland Escort Cosworth, features a newly spec'd, built and mapped engine, featuring a new turbo, block, inlet etc. The results of the mapping session, performed at SCS by Harvey Gibbs and engine mapping guru Ahmed Bayjoo, was 584BHP/580lb-ft torque. What's more, when tested and mapped for 102 RON Race Fuel, he achieved 627BHP/595lb-ft torque.

This thread is a great idea. Despite making the car move, there are far too few images of engines on the internet. They truly are masterpieces, especially now the manufacturers are paying more attention to aesthetics. I cant thenk of any more decent pist to add, but if i do, u guyw will get to see them (after me of course)
