This must be the first official JW proof of the price of petrol going over $1/L. in Canada. When is it going to stop? (I know...it won't). :(
Sorry for the bad pics. I was in a hurry.

do you want me to go to our petrol stations and get pics of prices around $AU1.20/L (= $1.11 CAD)? It is going up too, so it will be $1.30 before you know it..... :(

Why would you use premium if your car doesn't require it? Isn't it actually worse for the engine?

Why don't you all come over to the Netherlands and pay 1.43+ Euro's a litre (NOT a gallon)?
That's approx. US $ 1.86 a litre
or CA $ 2.28 a litre

Well...the gap hasn't closed yet, but we're working on it. Around here gas prices have jumped about 20 cents in the last week, it's now about $2.70 per gallon, which equates to about 70 cents per liter, which is about 87% of British petrol prices, and the prices are still rising.
I'm actually kind of enjoying the fact that the prices are going up, maybe some of the morons with SUVs and giant trucks will get off the road or buy real, reasonably frugal vehicles.

that's about the only upside i can see to this.
Where is our economist at? maybe he can shed some light as to how much longer we are going to have to put up with this crap. Which will also tell us when China has returned to the stone age :P

no. its 6.70 regular and 7.50 premium
62 and 70 cents approx. per liter, so that makes about 2.4 USD the gallon and 2.8 USD respectively. not cheap, considering our gas is low quality IMO and we get stolen some of it in the gas stations...

What are you complaining about? In Europe the petrol has always costed more than one $1/L... as far as I remember!
Nah, they're just back into reality :D
Still around 1.3€/l here :|

um no  we are currently averaging 90 pence per litre 70 cents is about 38 pence according to xe.com, you guys have still got a way to go before you can catch up :P Realistically it will never happen unless your government decides to persecute motorists to, we're just a big cash cow to them, to be exploited and wasted on stupid environmental measures and ever worsening public transport. Meanehile our roads are falling apart and certainly in dorset they don't have nearly enough money to fix them. You often here in the press that councils pay so much out in damages to motorists who claim for damage by potholes etc to their car that the councils could have fixed it for considerably less  rant over :P

To anybody this side of the atlantic:
Try living in the UK where you earn half as much, pay more tax, and deal with $6.46 per gallon  (based on Al's price and $1.9/GBP1)
I don't normally 'bite' at stuff but everyone is moaning about $2.60 a gallon for fucks sake. Get a smaller car if you can't afford it.
People at work are whining about it and in the next breath tell you they have a V8 pickup truck. And you need that to commute to an office each day, do you?

I don't drive a V8 pick-up truck. Don't tell me you're happy that the price of petrol is going up. Sure, it's not a HUGE deal, but I don't like it. Three years ago I was paying 64 cents/L. and now I'm paying 105 cents/L. I think that's a pretty big hike up in price.
As for the price of petrol in the U.S.: it works out to about half that of petrol in the U.K. Now we must consider the different taxes the respective governments incorporate in the petrol and what they use them for. Maybe in the U.S. they pay more road tax than in Britain, which would somewhat compensate for the price of gas being so high in Britain.

Hey my Pathfinder gets waay better mileage than my car did and I always drove the car but niw it's dead with a full tank of gas in it.

Bad, road tax is about a 1/4 the price here than the UK, actually. When I first moved here it was $1.20 a gallon (2003) now it has doubled.
I can't say I am overjoyed that the price is going up, but if the consequence is forcing countries into more efficient use of energy then I am all for it :!:
I don't know the ins and outs of why the taxation is so high in the UK but it has been that way for many years and the average person is thus 'conditioned' to accept it.
Before anyone raises it, being a smaller country is a flawed argument - it isn't really relevant to the commuter. Living 20 miles from work is 20 miles from work, whichever country you live in.

basically our goverment takes money from us often justifying in on environmental grounds, of course in their ideal world we'd all use public transport which is well.... shit especially in rural areas such as the one i'm in now, anyway i'm on strike from using it after i was left stranded after a football game by the incompetent train company. In the cities yes its better and often the only option, just as cars for alot of us are the only practical and RELIABLE (well ish :P ) option. I'm just wondering how in say 50 years when all new cars use fuel cells and emit basically only water they are going to still rob us of our cash. Ok yur price may be going up there but even if it doubled say to £1.80 a litre here i'd still drive 99% of the journeys i do now because i have to basically.
Sadly there are to many of the green mob here trying to tell us what we can and can't do...... drive 4x4's fast cars etc . Some arsehole ramblers for instance take exception to 4x4 drivers using a tiny percentage of the tracks they also use and have be known locally to put nails imbedded in things in the tracks. Idiots just think of the damage they could do to a horse etc  Alright that doesn't represent the majority of them but it just shows some of the hostility towards car lovers here, we are the anti christ

No shit! I only went in the dealership to stare at their SLR and SL65 but used my interest in the Smart as an excuse to linger around (not that I needed any).
