Hey fellas,
Here are some pics of my car. Its a Group A Rally Celica GT4, It number 16 of 150 in Australia. It won a few world rally championships driven by carlos sainz, So they produced this model, Its always been a dream car for me since my elder brothers had one many years ago, i remember riding in it, And i had to get one someday, but never thought it would happen this soon.... I got it 8 Months ago, and have been rebuilding it with my brother, saving money, working heaps, and slowly completing bit by bit, and its finally compelted!!! So happy, and i installed my TRD Gravel stage struts this weekend, and OMG, its amazing the amount of grip it has!!
But here the pics:
Custom shot first:

Good to see its finally finished mate - but well worth it by the looks of things. :D
I agree with gis about the rims - I'm a big fan of black/dark wheels.

awesome car!
I always liked celica's , especially that one. But I have never heard
about your version.
It's such an aggresive looking car. White colour fits it perfectly and those rims......niiiiice!
It's always nice to see someones hard work to pay off like this.

Thanks dude!
They are visually different to the normal model in that it has a different bonnet and bumper. Instead of the scoop, the bonnet has an air vent (to expel hot air) and a small round scoop to provide cooling air to the cam belt housing (found to melt during rallying on older models). At the rear are two additional rear-facing exits. The bumper is more bulbous and has a larger vent area. Also the large heavy steel bumper is missing, a petite aluminium extrusion taking its place. As a result of these changes the cooling efficiency (resulting from increased throughput of air) is much higher. All ST185CS models were the wide-body version. The rear bumper was also redesigned to reduce weight. The engine differs from the normal car in that it uses a water-air intercooling system. and includes a water spray system (which is installed but not connected). The CS also uses a different turbo and air flow meter. The ECU has the fuel cut at 17psi, up from the normal 12psi. Also different suspension settings and a lightweight, low restriction exhaust system with 2.5” pipe work as standard. and also a different gearbox.
Power wise the car has 177KW at the flywheel is stock form, but is pretty heavy, but has sublime handeling to make up for that.
Excellent night time shots also, thanks and enjoy it. :D
Thanks dingo, I got a tripod, so expect some nice Brisbane night shoots soon!! :D :D

Thanks dude, It has 177KW at 6200RPM and 320nm at 3400rpm. I am having a dyno done soon, so i will post up more accurate figures then. :D

No exterior mods on this dude, except for some light weight rally wheels.
:P ...everything is strictly track orientated. :P

Thanks dude, Im always driving it and playing around with it, hahaha, hence my poor uni results this semester.

what is 177kW in English? 230hp?
Nice car, whatever the HP. Good job you have done there mate

^^ Cheers dude, That is correct conversion i think, 230bhp. It has a lot more potential though, Its very restrictive and running from factory at 9psi in 1st, 2nd and 11psi in third. So alot more room for improvement easily.

230bhp with about 230 lb/ft of torque.. thing must really be nice off the line..
how does the transmission take hard launches with the GT4's all wheel drive?
I don't recall hearing about the Group A Rally version of this car.. I'd love to get my hands on one of these..
were these only sold "down under"?

yhe alltrac trannys from my eperience are prety strong (i built a 3sgte motor for a alltrac a few years ago) and the engine can easily support alot more HP
great car tho, i love the CS edition, the car that i built the motor for had the CS front bumper installed :)
i like it

The tranny is a bit old, but its been reconditioned, and few hard launches and some enthusiastic driving it gets a little sticky...all due to age and stuff im guessing. This specific one was only sold downunder yeah, there are 60 left here now. But mechically the same, just the different name, "RC" was sold all around the world, 5,000 was made so the car could compete in the WRC.

Cheers dude, im in love with it.
just start on the job of making it breath easier...you know you want to....but be aware if you first start you are lost, and that disease are hard to get rid of......
I know what you mean dude, Im broke every pay week, all my money is going into it, hahaha. I am going to do a brake upgrade over the holidays hopefully, 326mm discs on 4spot Brembo calipers at the front. :P
I remember at some point Toyota was going to make also a special model for Juha Kankkunen. I wonder what happened to it?
Thanks dude, Im not sure dude, I think they just made it for Carlos Sainz only.

I got my new rims today,
6 spoke white speedline rims on 215/40/17 Firenza ST-03 tyres. The tyres are not what i expected, the side walls roll too easy, not too happy about that, but not too bad for the moment.
here are some pics:

But, has dingo said, are they lighter than the old ones?

shit i didnt see these new posts...sorry for the late reply.
Looks good IMO, congrats mate. :D
Do these wheels save any weight over the standard ones?
Thanks mate, i like em too. I didnt weigh the wheels before i put them on, but they are lighter than my 16"black wheels with tyres, Heaps lighter.
How could I miss this topic for so long??
Very nice car you have mate!! :D Since I'm spanish, I used to love this car quite a lot when Sainz won the 1992 championship - he won the 1990 with the old Celica... and Auriol won again in 1993 I think with this same model
I prefer these wheels to the black ones, look more rallye focused... :P can't wait to see the weight-reduction mods!!
Thanks Dani, this is a dream car for me, i still cant believe i own one. :!: :!:
My bros bought me some new number plates for her as a present: "WRC-91", they suit the car so well, i will take up some fresh shots tommorow for sure, and maybe parked next to a F-430 :D
thanks.

I like the car a lot...for instance its my favourite GT-4 alongside the former celica GT-4 (on the other hand i dont like the last GT-4 since its shape was big and heavy......on the other hand, the 1993 championship was won by KKK and Auriol won the championship in 1994 on the same celica; at the end of the day, the same car has won three champioships in a consecutive way

Still waiting on these things to arrive\pickup, will post up pics soon as they arrive:
Defi BF PSI boost guage and controller
Fuel filter, New leads, Distributor cap + rotor arm
Tial 38mm External wastegate
ST205 brakes.
Once all the parts arrive, its then towed off to a mates place to get the CT26 to T25 adapter flange made up and the complete 3" turbo back exhuast.
Once all that is completed, I need to look into retro fitting a ST205 53mm Alumnium Koyo radiator and new slimline fans...

Those are some serious mods!
What will be the power output once everything is installed?? :D
Thanks Dani, For power, it will be around 120-140KW at all four wheels. Running at 9 Psi. Im hoping to wind up the boost once i do my engine rebuild at the end of this year, which will comprise of a HKS 2.2L 3S-GTE stroker kit. :D , then after the run in period, it should be capable of 200-220KW at all four wheels :D
I don't like reading posts like this, as it makes me wanna go out and buy some stuff for my car......I need to be strong and resist!
Congrats on all the purchases, hopefully it won't be too long before its all up and running - should be a track monster! :D
Dingo, Thanks, Its about time you spent some money on your car too, why not splash out on some Tein Coilovers ?? or beautiful Oz Racing Superlaggas :D
sikx5, have you gone mad???  Can't wait to see the result
Shes worth it
Well... with those mods you're really taking that beauty into another level!!!!
Thanks mate

G'day fellas,
Its been a long time since ive been on Jabbasworld, Working full time and studying full time doesnt help. However i found time to work on my car, And i got her on the road. Once i got the turbo setup and suspension setup on the car, took it for a spin, and found out that my clutch is slipping :| . So another setback, i soon ordered an Ogura Racing 409D Full face brass clutch with light weight flywheel. This was a great learning experience for me, as i did all the work myself. Which required a full engine drop for the clutch install. Here are the pics:
Here is the engine bay after the turbo setup:
http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/3346/dsc52080mm.th.jpg (http://img160.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc52080mm.jpg)

Now after i dropped the engine:

http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/7828/dsc52428hy.th.jpg (http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc52428hy.jpg)
Gearbox off:
http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/6607/dsc52720jz.th.jpg (http://img104.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc52720jz.jpg)
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7125/dsc52754yz.th.jpg (http://img132.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc52754yz.jpg)
Took this time to clean up the engine bay, as the previous owner has been rally driving in it, so it was filthy:

Cleaned up the gearbox a bit as well:

http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/5923/dsc53104aj.th.jpg (http://img164.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc53104aj.jpg)
Just got it on the road, Its pretty tricky to drive with that clutch, its either "on" or "off". So its quite tricky to drive through traffic.
Here are some snaps i took on the weekend, gave it a good wash and wax, Meguiars NXT wash & Wax used:

I'll have some videos up soon. Its really fun to drive, but i havent been pushing it very hard. Fuel prices have risen yet again, so the faster i drive, the faster the fuel goes.
0-100 times are sub 5 seconds now. I will be chucking it on the quarter as soon as i buy some nice tyres. Its got amazing acceleration and im so happy its finally on the road. Im off for another drive
Cya's later

Holy sh*t man!!
I'm extremely impressed with your All-trac. Hands down THE nicest Celica I've seen...
It's great that you're doing all the work yourself too.. I sure as hell wouldn't trust myself to start taking apart my engine and transmission..
I just started working on a 2 stroke engine for my shifter kart.. which seems like nothing compared to what you're working with..
Keep up the good work, hope you can get it to the track too! Just dont trash it in the corners..
oh yea, Real nice pics too!!

Nice work mate, turning into a real monster. I sometimes wish I bought an older car (out of warranty) so that I could do more engine work without the fear of being screwed when making a claim. :bah:
Have you taken it off-road yet? Great fun sliding around in the red dirt, just a pain in the arse having to clean it afterwards, but worth it IMO. :D

Thanks alot for the compiments fellas
Dani: Its pretty damn quick now, I have to enroll in some driver training courses soon :)
dutchmasterflex: thanks man, you gotta learn by doing, So what your doing now is ideal. Even if you bugger it up, its not going to cost too much money to get it fixed up. Looking forward to tracking it :)
dingo: Thanks man. Since you got the rex as a daily driver, you should invest in a older car for track work perhaps. And you could do the work yourself :). I was on public transport for most of the time my car was off the road, damn glad im not catching the train anymore
Havent taken it off road yet, Im having traction issues in the dry now  But looking for an empty wet private property with nothing to crash into, Will make sure i have the video on hand
That is one nice celica with a nice selection of mods now.the white is nice, bet you clean it a lot though, only problem with white cars.lol
what power are you expecting with those mods?
