As the title indicates I want to view photos/video from my laptop on the TV, but I'm having some problems.

Both devices have an S-Video connector and I have the appropriate cable, but whatever I do the image will not come up on the TV.

I have setup the display settings so that I have dual monitors and stuff, but still nothing comes up on the TV (just a blue screen). :?

Please help....thanks.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce2 Go in my laptop - where do I go to select between s-video and composite out?

Still not working.....another screenshot for you:

Yes, still a blue screen. :?

The other option in that menu is "Default Monitor" - but that makes no difference either. :?

I think I give up for now - starting to piss me off! :x

Thanks alot for your help insane.

I had some problem when I connected my friends video cam. to my tv.
we found out it was good ol PAL.... and just did a quick change in the menu, and it worked, but I have no idea if that might be the case in your problem.

and instead of digital view try the tv, unless your have a digital tv?

Traditionaly laptops would have a function key that you press to enable to TV-out.

Much like you use when switch between Laptop display or Desktop Monitor or Laptop AND Desktop Monitor.

This behaviour a 3 toggled positions. A or B or A & B At least thats how all my previous laptops. So even though you config video card, you still need to toggle the behaviour.

My desktop PC's (such as the current system in the living room) are configurd from the NVidia setup console as y'all are trying.

Just an idea - it's the first thing I would check - a keyboard based function toggle... ;)

^^ Not true... to get TV display, just plug an RCA or S-Video cable to a TV display and you will be able watchyour computer boot on TV... as I say, my laptop requires you to toggle the display function key to select A, B or A and B.

This type of display control is independant of the WInblows diplay managment - this would just be direct duplicate/clone of display - jsut like whne you take your laptop to work and plug into your docking station... :P

Of course customizing the second display/TV and stretching your desktop across the 2 etc require software components.

If you don't have it, dl nview multi-display software from nvidia, which comes with the newest forceware drivers...

That should work...

THe thing is - you should have the TV displaying the Laptop botup etc long before WInblows even starts up.

Thanks RC - I believe it is Fn + F3 on my keyboard but it still doesn't work. Doing that blanks the laptop screen but the TV still shows nothing. :?

You may have already done this, but try selecting the S-video input on your TV; it could be expecting the signal from RCA input.

There is no option to select it in the menu, all I do is go to the S-VHS channel and it should know.....otherwise I would be on AV1 or 2.

Not sure if this is the problem but did you try lowering resolution to say 1024x768 or 800x600? Alternatively, try to disable clone mode and enable the option to extend desktop to the TV.

I just tried those two options but again neither of them works.....this is strange (and annoying). :(

^ Ok, I gave that a go but it keeps telling me it can't do certain things because its missing something - and I need to upgrade to the driver to Detonator 43.45 or later.

So I do that and I still get the same error message.... :?

Any other ideas guys?

Did you try my idea? The forceware-drivers are the newest detonator-drivers, so just upgrade and you'll be fine...

If it tells you to upgrade, then... upgrade...

The driver issue still does not adress why the signal is not getting to the TV.

Laptops support directing the display to TV out even without Windows running - you should be able to see the Laptop actually boot up and run its BIOS routines etc on the TV screen ;)

dingo ..... try going to the BIOS and see if u find anything .... :?

abbor - I gave that a try but when installing it tells me the setup program can't find any drivers compatable with my current hardware...... :?

RC is right, its probably just a matter of enabling the s-video output - but how the f*ck do you do it? (Fn + F3/F4 doesn't work). :x

I have an NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Go card in my laptop. All I do is Right Click on the 2nd display and select Attach, and it shows my PC desktop on the TV. But the only problem is it is in Black and White.. I see everything from the boot up screen to a Video I play, but all in B/w.. That Blows.. I mean I've tried everything, from changing TVs to Changing from PAL to NTSC to etc etc.. but still no luck.. Eventually I just Gave Up... I think NVIDIA hasnt really cracked it in many cards, or I think we're just doing it wronly over an over again! :?
