Well, this Thursday ill be off for the family holiday for 2 weeks.

For those that are interested, we booked a last minute deal last thursday, and are doing a 'cruise & stay'

What this means is, we fly from Machester airport to Palma in Majorca, and have a week in 3 or 4 star hotel there (its allocation n arrival) at the end of the week, we board the cruise ship in Palma and have a weeks cruise around the mediterranean. We stop at 5 different places, one of which is in the Italian Riviera which i cant remember the name of, and another in the French riviera - Marseille, which means that there may be the opportunity for a bit of car spotting!
If anyone knows any of the areas they think i might be stopping at then let me know, and ill get off my arse and actualy confirm the places we are stopping at, and you can give me some tips on good car spotting locations!

*EDIT*
The specific places we stop at are:
- Civitavecchia (middle Italy)
- La Spezia (northern italy)
- Marseille (France)
- Sete (France/Spanish border)
- Tarragona (Spain)

Basically, i just wanted to let people know that i'll be away for 2 weeks, and that i havent been shot, and/or run off to another forum!

*EDIT* Forgot to add, of course i will be taking as many pics as i can, and will be posting them up in the holidays section when i get back. I may also get some access to a computer throughout the 2 weeks, and will let you all know how its going.

Well, im here in Majorca now, its very nice and also very very hot. We leave the hotel on Thursday and board the cruise ship in Palma for the week long cruise, which has some stops in the Italian riviera, so i might get the chance for some nice car pics then.

We had this amazing fireworks display last night with €1 million of fireworks!!
I got some breathtakibng pics and will post them when i get back

Thanks people!

@ transam, dont worry ive alread had my fair share of smirnoff ices, but they are really expensive its like 3pound nearly for a normal sized alcopop or similar.

On the other issue, unfortuenately the outlook is not so good, the resort we are at seems to be inhabited entirely by people who are either a) over 50, b) the size of a house, or c)both of the above!

Well kids, im back!!!

The holiday was really really good. One of the most enjoyable holidays ive had. Some amazing memories of the firework show in majorca, and some really nice sights seen in all the places visited on the cruise. We went to Civitavecchia and caught a train to rome (which involved a very funny incident) and saw the coliseum etc, then onto La spezia, where we once again got a train along the coast to a region calle le cinque terre, which has 5 beautiful little villages all along the coast, where the houses are all painted red and yellow or orange - proper picture postcard stuff. After that was marseille, which is a nice place, but slightly dirty - no one seems to bother to have cleered up anything. after marseille was sete, where we were hoping to catch a train to perpignon, but that all went to pot, so we bumbled around sete for a few hours, which turned out to be a nice french village anyway. Finally we went to tarragona in Spain, where we caught a train to barcelona, which i have to say out of all the places we visited was by far and away the nicest. rome was good, but barcelona was just sooo nice. everything was clean, ven on the little side streets not intended for tourists eyes. I only realised when i was coming out of the underground station in the place de catalunia that this is where dani_d_mas lives! he is very lucky to live in such a nice part of the world.

On a side note, our family has a sort of running tradition/challenge which is to have a mcdonalds in all the famous places of the world - we managed to tick rome and barcelona of the list! Which can be added to geneva and time square, new york! Its kinda sad, but also pretty funny that even in places steeped in ancient history like rome, you can still get yourself a slice of american unhealthiness!

Pictures & videos of the trip will be uploaded at some point in the holidays section.

Glad you enjoyed the stay in my city! And I live just 400 metres from Catalonia square! :D

BTW, I also try to go as many McDonald's as I can in special places: my favourites are the Zermatt one, one next to the World Trade Center with pianist included (I don't know if it exists anymore)... and one in Beijing, said to be the biggest McDonald's in the World! :P

LOL, well i ithnk time square is probably the best one for me, with chamonix coming a close second - you can sit eating your burger and look up to see the talest mountain in europe - Mt Blanc - very cool.
