INGOLSTADT, Germany - For the second consecutive summer AUDI AG has landed a high-quality product placement. The sequel to the action feature "The Transporter", directed by Louis Letterier (“The Transporter”, “Danny the Dog”), features Audi’s top model – the Audi A8 W12. The film is based around private chauffeur and ex-special forces agent Frank Martin. Played by well-known UK actor Jason Statham ("Snatch", "The Italian Job", "Cellular"), he specializes in transporting dubious packages and other sophisticated driving jobs. Whereas the first "Transporter" saw the hero confronted with a gang of Asian people-smugglers, this time he is hired as the personal driver of a US Senator fighting against a Peruvian drug cartel.

As his primary mode of transport, Frank Martin drives a luxurious and dynamic Audi A8 W12. Caught up in the action the car plays a key role in the film. Spectacular driving scenes featuring the sporty luxury limousine are guaranteed.

“The Transporter 2” is produced by the French EuropaCorp group. Founded by star author, director and producer Luc Besson - whose films include iconic work such as "Nikita", "The Big Blue", "Leon" and "The Fifth Element” – the studio also produced the original “Transporter”. Joining director Louis Letterier on location in Miami, USA were stunt choreographer Cory Yuen (“Romeo must Die”, “X-Men”, “Kiss of the Dragon”) and vehicle stunt coordinator Michel Julienne (“007 – The Living Daylights”, “Taxi 1-3”, “Femme Fatale”, “Danny the Dog”).

The fact that Besson’s team was responsible for the realization of the project was a decisive factor in securing the involvement of Audi. “EuropaCorp’s films are renowned for ambitious and spectacular car stunts. The team always comes up with new, innovative stunt ideas – thereby pushing the edge of the genre," says Tim Miksche, responsible for product placement at AUDI AG. “The combination of the superior handling of the A8 and these sporty driving scenes makes this project fit perfectly with our younger target group”.

The filmmakers first made contact with the Ingolstadt car manufacturer back in the Summer of 2004. Louis Letterier: "The film and its car stunts wouldn’t have been possible without Audi and the cars they provided. I believe the Audi A8 W12 is the world’s best car in combining both sports and luxury.”

The A8, however, is not the only co-star in this film representing the Audi brand group. Former US fashion model Amber Valetta, the female lead, will also be driving an Audi on screen – the all-new A3 Sportback 3.2 quattro. A total of four specially-built Audi A8 and two A3 Sportback models were made available for filming. And in the final climactic car chase, a rare Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster also makes a guest appearance.

“The Transporter 2” will be released in France starting on August 3rd and on September 2nd in the USA. A specially dedicated Microsite will feature special Audi content from the film. It can be viewed at www.audi.com/transporter2 from the middle of August.

Audi is no stranger to action films. The Audi TT appeared in “Mission Impossible 2” and the Audi S8 was at the center of the driving action in “Ronin.” Last summer, the Audi RSQ served as Detective Will Spooner’s sidekick in the blockbuster “I, ROBOT.”

About EuropaCorp:

EuropaCorp is an integrated studio that produces feature films and distributes them in cinema and on video. The Group also manages the licensing of TV rights. Luc Besson and Pierre-Ange Le Pogam created the unique EuropaCorp modus operandi in 1999, which allows control of the entire life cycle of a film on the artistic and economic level. This control of the production and distribution chain makes EuropaCorp one of the few independent and integrated studios in Europe.
