So far the A8's been running great, but lately the gearbox has been slipping gears somtimes on low speeds, mostly out of roundabouts and intersections. It's the same as one of my old cars, when the gear-oil level got low. On the other hand, on my old car I could refill oil. However the manual does'nt mention anyting about gear oil.

Do you think this is something I have to bring the car to the shop to fix? I'm gonna call the shop tomorrow to hear what they say.

Does anyone else with Audi gearbox' know anything?

well if it's the same as the one in the A6 you'll have to drop the tranny not remove just drop it to get to the top but if the thing is slipping you should get it really looked at.

probably the same as in the A6. Today I called the shop, but in this part of Norway there's only one place that services A8's. Apparently you need a special audi sertificate to qualify to work on them. They were going to check it up for me, so hopefully they'll call me tomorrow.

It's not slipping so often or hard that I think it is breaking to pieces, but it's just irritating when it happens.

are you crazy. i have an A6. audi says that most automatics are seal, and they don't even have a dip stick. but if you look under the car there is a plug on the side of the tranny, you'll need a special tool to removed the plug. for additional help look up at www.audiworld.com i never done it to mine.
