Just look at how the designers wanted these cars to look like...

Scaglietti on paper vs Scaglietti in the metal...

Imagine if they actually looked like what the designers intended... we would've had some pretty special looking cars on the road today. :|

EDIT: done correctly :D

sometimes production methods don't allow for some of the forms that artists draw.
and the 612 concept is better imo than the production one

^^^ ya with those impractical wheel wells, and tight design :P
you still have to build a car that you can drive

you some times need to take a turn, working doors and use real tyres instead of duct tape around the rim

The wheel wells are an exaggeration, but the details, such as the enzo-style lights on the 612, were not. Yet, they didn't make it through.

Besides, there are no longer any real production limitations. The materials used to build car bodies are flexible enough to take any form.

It's "the commitee" which dilutes the designs.

I like the 612 a lot actually.

But man the Quattroporte concept looks really aggressive 8) .

The sketches look horrible. Maybe if the hold onto the design's for 10-20 yrs they might look good. By then, car design's will look closer to the sketches. It's all about evolution.
But for now they should just remain on paper.

the concept of the 612 is nice.. i do agree Sir GT the commitee is the thing that makes the car work or not. there are drawings of cars that look very good but when u take a deeper look u'll see that its too modern that ppl won't accept it..

am not against modern cars no am a big fan of them, but somtimes designers build and creat things that are too much.. and btw when it comes to drawing ur free to draw every line u have in ur mind.. there are no limits! but when it comes to real work things change alot!

You must also consider the driving balance/dynamics of the car may be drastically different from the concept to the actual production model.

Wasnt the Lambo Countach so aesthetically appealing but the driving experience was appalling.

If they built the Maserati 4 door like in the concept, i can only imagine the repair bill everytime you rear end someone because you didnt realise how long the nose was.

I'm curious... if somebody asked you to name a good looking car, what would be the FIRST car that pops into your head? (not the one you have to think about)

Re: Everybody's opinion about the Quattroporte concept - is it just me, or does it remind you of a four-door Aston Martin? Change the colour to British racing green, make the lamps clear, and then take a look again.

I think both of the concepts are more beautiful than the real cars, specially in the scaglietti case.
