Wow, it took me longer than usually to edit all the pics of this event, but it is also true that they were a lot and I am still left with some 100 of them taken at the NS :!:
It was really a great experience! We picked up the rental A4 Tursday evening at 6 pm, back home it was too early to sleep.. I tried anyway but I was just there in my bed, looking out of the window.. I finally managed to close my eyes around 10 pm I think and suddently dodo drop me a PM to tell me he put online some pics.. needless to say, i was impossible to sleep afterward! So, with just 90 minutes of sleep, at midnight we are off.. the GPS wasn't working because a loony stole the DVD, so we had to navigate with a map, nothing major but it means the co-pilot can't really sleep all of the time like we planned. after 7 hours and 630 km and after having lost the correct road twice (and not easy to ask for directions at 4 am :!: ) we finally reached the meeting point with dodo. He took us to the F1 track, we were basically the first ones and it was weird to walk down the deserted pitlane of a F1 track, looking at all the exotics hidden in the boxes for the night! Since the action had yet to start, we moved to the NS to see the factory drivers test future models. in the meanwhile we found Wutputt too (or better, he found us), so the mini JW meeting was finally on.
At the NS it was just impressive! First of all, you are much closer to the track that I first though.. then after a second or two, you hear some tires squealing and from the woods uphill, a black bullet flies toward you, a 997 Turbo, whooshing loud and just eating tarmac at unbelievable speed! And it's not just a flying lap but many of them in a row as far as I could see. Also the Gallardo SE was impressive, but the 997  anyway, it was just weird.. you are used to see spy shots on the net, and then you are there, with maybe 10 "secret" cars lapping the NS in front of you! Sadly the light conditions were kinda bad, so I only got one acceptable picture:
http://img310.imageshack.us/img310/9091/porsche997tt018si.th.jpg (http://img310.imageshack.us/my.php?image=porsche997tt018si.jpg)
BTW, funny thing, I also met a Ferrari 550 owner coming from Lausanne LOL and the funny part is that we know eachother since a while on the net! Weird!
Anyway the time came to go back to the Ferrari meeting and what a fucking meeting! Yes 4 of the Enzos were gone, but still   and impressive to see how few visitors attended it! Yes it was cold and menacing rain, but still!
After some hours and some hundreads pics, finally my Nordschleife experience could really start and there aren't really words to describe it, if not the usual ones everybody shouts at you: YOU HAVE TO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF ASAP!!!!!!!!!
Like many of you, I lapped the virtual NS in GT hundreads of times and saw tons of pics and vids, but they can't really prepare you to what it really is! Again, the same usual comment, but the crest and dips are MUCH bigger than you think and when you first reach the "jump", you wonder if it's really the right track! That little crest is steep! I wonder if I would be able to go uphill with a bike LOL. No shit, it's really pointing to the sky! The compressions too are impressive and you can't feel them in vids or videogames! For sure a difficult track to master if you want to go for a fast laptime because you will often lift off when in reality you could have kept the pedal to the metal, but if you go there to have a quick blast and have fun, it's AMAZING! The Karusel is just too fun with a normal car which doesn't risk to touch the ground.. I took it 5 times at ever increasing speed, but it's impossible to be thrown out of it LOL! Brillant! My best lap as said was a 12:30 from bridge to bridge with a pretty safe driving. 12 flat would have been possible with no passengers and more guts :D
It was funny to do also a full lap following a Mondial with its driver equipped with helmet, gloves and everything :) it's a slow car that Mondial LOL!
During the last two laps it was raining a little bit and I can say the surface become slippery kinda quickly. The tail of the A4 could be kicked out VERY easily under liftoff. I did it by purpose just to see, but for sure if you will go too fast and make a mistake, you are easily out. In lap 5, in the first downhill chicanes, a biker hit the ground.. no big deal for him, but the bike...
Anyway, as said, no words can describe it.. the whole feeling, the parking lot full of nice cars, the ppl, then the barrier, and 10+ minutes of orgasm! IT HAS TO BE DONE and I hope to go there again soon!
As said elsewhere.. let's try a JW meeting in 2006 there with more than 3 members :!:
The picture that will stay with my for quite a while, thanks Wutputt and dodo
