Wow, it took me longer than usually to edit all the pics of this event, but it is also true that they were a lot and I am still left with some 100 of them taken at the NS :!:

It was really a great experience! We picked up the rental A4 Tursday evening at 6 pm, back home it was too early to sleep.. I tried anyway but I was just there in my bed, looking out of the window.. I finally managed to close my eyes around 10 pm I think and suddently dodo drop me a PM to tell me he put online some pics.. needless to say, i was impossible to sleep afterward! So, with just 90 minutes of sleep, at midnight we are off.. the GPS wasn't working because a loony stole the DVD, so we had to navigate with a map, nothing major but it means the co-pilot can't really sleep all of the time like we planned. after 7 hours and 630 km and after having lost the correct road twice (and not easy to ask for directions at 4 am :!: ) we finally reached the meeting point with dodo. He took us to the F1 track, we were basically the first ones and it was weird to walk down the deserted pitlane of a F1 track, looking at all the exotics hidden in the boxes for the night! Since the action had yet to start, we moved to the NS to see the factory drivers test future models. in the meanwhile we found Wutputt too (or better, he found us), so the mini JW meeting was finally on.
At the NS it was just impressive! First of all, you are much closer to the track that I first though.. then after a second or two, you hear some tires squealing and from the woods uphill, a black bullet flies toward you, a 997 Turbo, whooshing loud and just eating tarmac at unbelievable speed! And it's not just a flying lap but many of them in a row as far as I could see. Also the Gallardo SE was impressive, but the 997  anyway, it was just weird.. you are used to see spy shots on the net, and then you are there, with maybe 10 "secret" cars lapping the NS in front of you! Sadly the light conditions were kinda bad, so I only got one acceptable picture:
http://img310.imageshack.us/img310/9091/porsche997tt018si.th.jpg (http://img310.imageshack.us/my.php?image=porsche997tt018si.jpg)

BTW, funny thing, I also met a Ferrari 550 owner coming from Lausanne LOL and the funny part is that we know eachother since a while on the net! Weird!

Anyway the time came to go back to the Ferrari meeting and what a fucking meeting! Yes 4 of the Enzos were gone, but still   and impressive to see how few visitors attended it! Yes it was cold and menacing rain, but still!
After some hours and some hundreads pics, finally my Nordschleife experience could really start and there aren't really words to describe it, if not the usual ones everybody shouts at you: YOU HAVE TO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF ASAP!!!!!!!!!
Like many of you, I lapped the virtual NS in GT hundreads of times and saw tons of pics and vids, but they can't really prepare you to what it really is! Again, the same usual comment, but the crest and dips are MUCH bigger than you think and when you first reach the "jump", you wonder if it's really the right track! That little crest is steep! I wonder if I would be able to go uphill with a bike LOL. No shit, it's really pointing to the sky! The compressions too are impressive and you can't feel them in vids or videogames! For sure a difficult track to master if you want to go for a fast laptime because you will often lift off when in reality you could have kept the pedal to the metal, but if you go there to have a quick blast and have fun, it's AMAZING! The Karusel is just too fun with a normal car which doesn't risk to touch the ground.. I took it 5 times at ever increasing speed, but it's impossible to be thrown out of it LOL! Brillant! My best lap as said was a 12:30 from bridge to bridge with a pretty safe driving. 12 flat would have been possible with no passengers and more guts :D
It was funny to do also a full lap following a Mondial with its driver equipped with helmet, gloves and everything :) it's a slow car that Mondial LOL!

During the last two laps it was raining a little bit and I can say the surface become slippery kinda quickly. The tail of the A4 could be kicked out VERY easily under liftoff. I did it by purpose just to see, but for sure if you will go too fast and make a mistake, you are easily out. In lap 5, in the first downhill chicanes, a biker hit the ground.. no big deal for him, but the bike...

Anyway, as said, no words can describe it.. the whole feeling, the parking lot full of nice cars, the ppl, then the barrier, and 10+ minutes of orgasm! IT HAS TO BE DONE and I hope to go there again soon!

As said elsewhere.. let's try a JW meeting in 2006 there with more than 3 members :!:

The picture that will stay with my for quite a while, thanks Wutputt and dodo

Not many 360 or 430 around there.. most of the cars were much more exclusive! I'd rather visit such a meeting than a Ferrari Day with 1000 cars, 800 of which are Modenas ;)

176 pics!!

I couldn't possibly comment on even half the cars there.....such an amazing event that makes me extremely jealous. :)

The Enzo's are just astonishing, although suprising to not see more F40's or F50's (and no 288GTO's). I agree with the comparisons to the Racing Days event, this has much more exclusive cars. :D

Did the MC12 not show up?

Thanks a ton for the great pics, now let me go look at them all again. :D

TT

Nope, the MC12 didn't show up, but well, I'd rather see a single Tipo 33 in my life that every single MC12 that will be produced :good:

Amazing pics there TT! Next year you should visit the Spa Ferrari/Maserati Days... It has even more exclusive cars and the whole event is about 6 times more fun...
I was a bit disappointed, many cars didn't enter the track on Friday, I would have loved to see the 312 B driving... Also many cars they promised didnt show up, MC12, 512 S, McLaren F1...
But beats nothing! I've finally been to the Ring :P

Great pics of great cars  250 Lusso, 308GTS, 512TR, F40, F50, Enzo..... ummm... and to hear them all screaming by :faint:

I need some time to browse the 176 pics on SCS

 btw, maybe you should remove the number plate of the rental car from the pics - I'm not sure if you could getting troubles by using a rental car on a race track ...
what do you think ?

Damn, lots of awesome toys there! It's such a shame nothing like that happens here in Minnesota! I'm lucky if I see a couple Ferrari's each summer!

In the F40 pic, it looks like someone is keeping an eye on you. Are you a shady looking character or what TT?

The Enzo prototype is really ugly, I mean reeeaaaalllllyyy ugly. I like the wheels though!

An awesome bunch of cars! The Enzo are of course incredible. But a Tipo 33! Good God! I'd pay good money to see that car alone!
The Jag XJR9 is pretty sweet too.

So how many Enzo's have you seen now TT? What the count on the LM002's as well?

As usual, great pics TT!

I am at 15 Enzo (no counting motorshows) and the LM are just 4. A black one at the last Lambo meeting, a white one during the Enzo day in 2004, a red one in a museum in Geneva and this yellow one Friday

I was just reading the other day abotu some guy who rented a car from Hertz and took it out on the Ring. They found out and he's now banned from Hertz worldwide! LMAO!!

aaahm i'm sorry that i have to ask, but how many tipos were built? and is it expensive?

on thursday there was a photoshooting with this car. only the photographers and me, so i joined them for some quick shots..

one of the photographers said that his dream comes true because he can take pics of this car.
if i had known that it is as rare as an mc12 i would have taken some more pics.. but in that moment i just thought it would just be some old car.

btw: after they opened the doors and walked away both doors fall down with a loud bang! one of them screamed something in belgian, i guess it was something like "oooh holy sh** damn no no noooooo". he almost cried :D
then they tried again and taped both doors together :D

HAHA, the MC12 is a common car compared to this!! How many MC12 on the road pics you saw? In just a few months I saw 3 of them already (road, dealership and workshop) and in total more than 10 were spotted on the road!
The Tipo 33 is basically impossible to spot outside a museum! And even at car shows, it's still fucking impossible!

18 were built, there were versions with simple headlaps like this and also with two on each side. I don't know how many are still around, but definitely this car was the biggest surprise of the show and I would have killed to be able to take pics of it outside!

Well done! You won't many see another 33 Stradale in your life :!:

BTW, added a couple of small vids to the first post

I liked to read how you described your experiment at the Nordschleife. To combine your visit at the NS with this Ferrari gathering has being really exciting. :D Your pictures TT are simply incredible.

The idea to make a JW meeting at the NS in 2006 interests me strongly.

Do I need to add anything more?

a) Just awesome pics. Too bad I spoiled a few of them by being in them :)
b) It was fucking amazing to be there :D Though I would had loved more action on the track. Nevertheless not many people will see so much Enzo's and a Tipo 33 at the same plce.

BTW, I just read of Fchat that the organizers which took a break after the 2003 meeting to come back in 2005, are excited about the success and want to do it again in 2006, possible two events, no idea if both at the Ring, but we have to keep our eyes open.. sadly it wasn't announced very early, and if we want to plan our meeting we need to do it several month in advance IMO

Anybody else agree with me on the fact that Ferraris look best on black?

TT
07-27-2005, 05:32 AM
Uhm, sort of :D

I mean, for some of them, black is just too dark and it "hides" their lines. For instance, although I love the Enzo in black, I think something get lost, especially in certain particular light conditions. I'd rather have it in blu Pozzi or TDF, or even grigio titanio.. they all keep the drama of the contrast with the rear lights, which I love, but they also let you appreciate its lines better than black does, IMO
