View Full Version : Help ID'ing rare Italian beauty...
Hey Tifosi, can anyone help identify this Italian classic beauty?
It looks like some bespoke or custom coachbuilders Ferrari from the early 60's.
Maybe based on a V12 GT chassis.

Well i'm fairly certain this a 60's america...
they all had v12, but very often had custom bodywork...
is it just me, or do certain parts of these pictures look "a little off"?
certain parts seem to be shaded weird...and the light is a little strange :?:
To me it looks most like the 400 superamerica series 2...but because of the custom bodywork thing hard to know for certain.... :?
edit: :bah: @ RC45
looks like a bathtub anyway :D

Sorry about that ... the grille gave it away ... it was pure American ... but the car has elements of the 250 SWB from the rear, the 64 GTO from the side and some part of the 275 from the front. Considering this car was released before any of these cars maybe this is the progenitor of the GTO, SWB and 275.
Hope this makes you happy RC :)

Drool RC? Sorry but its horrible. Plus the Vette gril gave it away.

Thanks for proving yet again that once anyone hears "its a Corvette" it must be slow and ugly and this and that blah blah blah :P
The car is a Scagletti design that was done for Shelby - and had things worked out differently this would have probably become the "Cobra" of history.
ANd funny how you say it's ugly, yet it has Scagletti written all over it - and is rather better looking than many Ferraris of the 1959 era. It looks like it took abotu 4 years for these rakish stylish lines to be accpeted by Enzo ;)

I bet if you showed him just the rear he would be in love with the car...

That grill doesnt belong there. It just doesnt fit in. And the rear just doesnt do it for me...
As for being better looking then most 50s Ferraris, then yeah. I dont really like any of them that are pre 250 California.
